City issues requirements for debris pick-up

The City of Lincolnton has issued the following list of requirements to which city residents must adhere in order for the city street crew to pick-up limbs, leaves, and shrub prunings.

For limbs and shrub prunings:

. Limbs and shrub prunings must be stacked as close as possible to the street edge and must not impede traffic. Limbs and prunings must not be stacked in ditches.

. Limbs and prunings cannot exceed four inches in diameter and cannot be over four feet long.

. Limbs, shrubs, and prunings must not contain dirt, rock, or root material. Stumps and root systems will not be picked up.

. The city reserves the right to remove one quantity per resident per week.

. All debris must be hand stacked, and not done by machine. Debris must be easily picked up by hand for loading onto the trailer.

For leaves:

. Leaves must be stacked as close as possible to the street edge and must not impede traffic. Leaves must not be stacked in ditches.

. The City reserves the right to remove one quantity per resident per week.

This service is provided for residents of the city to help with the maintenance of their yards and not for large-scale clearing of lots or debris left by hired professionals. The hired professional is responsible for removing any large items and items not hand stacked.

The city reserves the right to refuse pick-up for residents who do not adhere to these requirements.
