gives presentation at Ga. State Parks convention

Dwaine Biggerstaff, president of Friends of Elijah Clark State Park, and his wife Nolia, along with Pat and Don Thomas, attended the an­nual Friends of Georgia State Parks Convention at Lake Lanier on Au­gust 16, 17, and 18.

They had the honor of being se­lected to present a convention wide power-point presentation featuring four of their unique projects at Elijah Clark Park. Dwaine shared information about the successes of the Elijah Clark Friends group and the positive working relationship with Park Manager, Harry Hafer. Dwaine spoke about the Christmas Drive-thru, the new nature center and Hanna’s Kitchen.

Avid Historian, Don Thomas, spoke about Elijah Clark Day Cel­Biggerstaff celebration at the park and the large number of visitors to our county during that event. He and his wife, Pat, dressed in Revolutionary attire for the convention which was an added flare to the presentation.

The power point highlighted the Lincolnton Chamber of Commerce and the businesses in close proxim­ity to the park including the Lin­colnton Historical Park. Brochures and maps of Lincolnton and the park were shared with a record number of attendees and they were all invited and encouraged to visit our park and our county. Officers of Friends of Georgia Parks from all Georgia parks, as well as, Governor Deal and his wife, members of DNR, Georgia park managers, and many other dig­nitaries were in attendance.
