Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting is the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Choir anniversary Oct. 6

First Baptist Church DJQ Choir will celebrate its 28th anniversary Oct. 6 at 5 p.m. Mr. Jay Jefferies will be worship leader. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Story time at library

Story time is back at the library! Every Thursday at 11:00 is Tod­dler Time. Bring your non-school aged children while a few books are read. This is a great opportunity for toddlers to socialize and find a new favorite book.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

Join Lincoln County 4-H

The Master’s Closet is in need of donations of maternity clothes siz­es large and XL. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or placed in the donation bin outside.

Ordination service

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Min­istry invites the public to attend its ordination service for the candidate, Cedric Pitts, on Sept. 15 at 1 p.m., in the church sanctuary.

Bible study Tuedays

Rev. Dr. Anthoni D. McElrath, senior pastor of Green Grove Mis­sionary Baptist Church, Augusta, will host a weekly bible study on Tuesday nights, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.

Apply for WIOA program

Applicants are needed in Lin­coln County for a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act WIOA Program for out of school youth and young adults. They can help you get your GED, get training and get a job. Eligible requirements: 16-24 years old, not attending any school and must be a high school dropout, in the juvenile or adult justice system, homeless, runaway, in or aged out of foster care, pregnant or parent­ing, or disables. Souls to the Polls Sept. 22

Mulberry CME Church will be hosting a 2018 Souls to the Polls Unity and Faith Rally Sept., 22, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be speakers and representatives on hand provid­ing information about the upcoming General Election. The community at large is invited to come out and join us as we unite in faith to rally the vote in 2018. Individuals may also register to vote and check their voter registration status. Financial planner at Morningside

Tommy Blackwell will be at Morn­ingside Baptist Church at 1 p.m., to lead an educational session on Medi­care and Social Security planning for retirees and those getting close to re­tirement on Wednesday, September 19. Country supper Sept. 15

The Christian Service Organiza­tion will sponsor a country cook­ing supper at Fishing Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, September 15, 6-8 p.m., at $8 per plate. This will be an all you can eat meal and can eat in or take out. This is a fundraiser for Tommy (Mike) Haney, who has been in the hospital and is now at home. He has limited use of his right hand and left leg, therefore he cannot walk or work. Everyone’s support will be great­ly appreciated. Rev. Roy Cates is the pastor of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.

L-W educators to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association will meet at 11:00 a.m., Thurssday, Sept. 15 at the Lincoln County Public Library. All retired educators and friends of education are invited.

Ebenezer to honor staff

Ebenezer Baptist Church will honor its ministerial staff at 10:30 a.m., on Sunday, September 23. Those being honored are Rev. Stanley Key and Minister Annie Anthony. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Union to meet Sept. 30

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will meet at First Baptist Church Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. Rev. Matthew Hardin and New Tabernacle Church will be in charge. Rev. Dennis J. Quinn, Sr. is pastor.

Homecoming at New Hope

New Hope Baptist Church will celebrate Homecoming Sept. 16, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Reviere shar­ing the message. A famous barbecue covered dish luncheon will be served after the service. They will also have revival services Sept. 17-19, at 7 p.m. nightly with Rev. Madison Beggs and Matt Conway providing special music each night.

Mobile mammography

The University Hospital Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Thurs., Sept. 20. Women are encouraged to call 706-774-4149 to schedule their appointment.

Assessors meeting dates

The following dates are the 2018 regular scheduled meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, web­site, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify The Lincoln Journal: Tues., Sept. 18; Tues., Oct. 16; Tues., Nov. 20; and Tues., Dec. 18.

Blessing of the Bikes and Bikers will be held at Lincolnton United Methodist Church at 10:45 a.m., on Sun., Sept. 23. Stay and hang out for a great barbecue lunch in our fellowship hall afterward.

Flame needs donations

The Eternal Flame account that keeps the flame in front of the courthouse burning is in need of donations. Donations may be made at Farmers State Bank to the Lincoln Eternal Flame Account or at the courthouse.

Zumba classes Tues., Thurs.

Zumba classes held every Tues and Thur night at 7:15 p.m. in the gym at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Dr. Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor, teaches this Latin dance inspired exercise class. Lots of fun and great exer­cise.

BOE meeting dates

Lincoln County Board of Educa­tion 2018 meeting dates are: Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, and Jan. 8, 2019.

Birthday calendars

Lincoln County Middle School Student Council was given the op­portunity two years ago to provide birthday calendars to our commu­nity when the Lions’ Club discon­tinued doing them. The club will use the proceeds to update the sign at the entrance to the high school to include LCMS events. Businesses can purchase ads for the calendar and receive one calendar free. Prices for business ads vary by size. Individuals can purchase calendars to include birth­days, anniversaries, and in memory birthdays. The cost of the calendar is $6 each; listings are $1 each. Samaritan’s Purse meeting

The community is invited to a Sa­maritan’s Purse meeting and lunch at Morningside Baptist Church Thurs., Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m. Pas­tor Mark Brumbelow and his wife, Cherry, will share how their small church of 30 members packed 3,000 Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes in 2017. Republican party to sponsor meet the candidates rally

The Republican Party is spon­soring a Voter Appreciation/ Meet the Candidates Rally on Saturday, September 22nd, from 10:00am- 2:00 pm. The Rally will be held at 4208 Washington Rd, Evans Geor­gia. The location is in front of Syno­vus Bank located across from Mul­lins Crossing Shopping Center This is a regional event for 10th and 12th Congressional Districts.
