Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Antioch CME Church will cel­ebrate its anniversary Sun., Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn will be special guest. Rev. Annie Thomas is the pastor.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Story time at library

Story time is back at the library! Every Thursday at 11:00 is Tod­dler Time. Bring your non-school aged children while a few books are read. This is a great opportunity for toddlers to socialize and find a new favorite book.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Master’s Closet is in need of donations of maternity clothes siz­es large and XL. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or placed in the donation bin outside.

Booster club to meet

The Lincoln County Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, August 13 in the media center at Lincoln County High School.

Bible study Tuedays

Rev. Dr. Anthoni D. McElrath, senior pastor of Green Grove Mis­sionary Baptist Church, Augusta, will host a weekly bible study on Tuesday nights, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.

Apply for WIOA program

Applicants are needed in Lincoln County for a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act WIOA Pro­gram for out of school youth and young adults. They can help you get your GED, get training and get a job. Eligible requirements: 16-24 years old, not attending any school and must be a high school dropout, in the juvenile or adult justice system, homeless, runaway, in or aged out of foster care, pregnant or parenting, or disables. Walker reunion Aug. 19

The descendants and connected families of Daniel Lumpkin Walker and Margaret Elizabeth Stephenson Walker will meet for their annual reunion on Sunday August 19th at Fishing Creek Baptist Church. Join us after church services and bring your favorite covered dishes. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Old family photographs, documents and genealogy information will be on display. Walker are also invited to attend.

Homecoming at New Work

Class reunion meeting

The Lincoln County Training School and Westside High School will have a meeting at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, August 12. Come out and help us plan for this reunion. Classes of 1939-1975.

Revival services

First Baptist Church will have revival services Aug. 27-30 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest speakers will be, Mon.-Rev. Ray Pilgrim; Tues., Wed., Thurs.-Rev. Robert Ramsey. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Homecoming Aug. 19

New Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Home­coming on Sunday, August 19th, at 10:15 a.m. Revival will be held Monday, August 20 through Wednesday, August 22 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Pastor Anthoni McElrath of Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga. as our guest. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Matthew Harden is the pas­tor.

Soccer registration

Flame needs donations

The Eternal Flame account that keeps the flame in front of the courthouse burning is in need of donations. Donations may be made at Farmers State Bank to the Lincoln Eternal Flame Account or at the courthouse.

Assessors meeting dates

The following dates are the 2018 regular scheduled meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at the Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, web­site, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify the Lincoln Journal: Tues., Aug. 21; Tues., Sept. 18; Tues., Oct. 16; Tues., Nov. 20; and Tues., Dec. 18.

Summer revival

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual summer revival Mon.-Wed., Aug. 13-15 at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Chavous Boyd will be guest speaker. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Zumba classes Tues., Thurs.

Zumba classes held every Tues and Thur night at 7:15 p.m. in the gym at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Dr. Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor, teaches this Latin dance inspired exercise class. Lots of fun and great exer­cise.

Lincoln County Board of Educa­tion 2018 meeting dates are:, Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, and Jan. 8, 2019.

Back to school bash

First Assembly Lincolnton will be hosting a Back 2 School Bash on Sat., Aug. 11 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. We will have a free lunch, snow cones, water slides and more. The first 150 students who register at the event will receive a free set of earbuds.

Reserved seat tickets avail.

Reserved seats for 2018 Lincoln County Red Devil Football season will be on sale at the high school located at 200 Charles Ward Elam St., beginning July 31. The ticket window will be open daily from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. If you have purchased season tickets in the past, your seat(s) will be held until Aug. 14, at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list. Season tickets packets (5 games) are $50. General admission tickets will be $8. If you are unable to pick up your tickets and would like for someone to pick them up for you, please call Beth Hahn at 706-359-3121. Tickets will not be released to anyone unless notified by the ticket holder.

Mulberry C. M. E. Church will celebrate its 145th Church Anniversary on Sun., Aug. 26 at 2:30 with Rev. Andre’ C. Loyd Jr. from Westside C.M.E. Community Church in Atlanta. Please come help us celebrate this day of fellowship and fun.
