Red Devil fans invited to meet new athletic director May 14

Soon football fans in Lincoln County will have an opportunity to do a little “armchair coaching.” The new coach and athletic director of Lincoln County High School, Michael Pollock, will be available to receive “sage advice” on just how to win that next game.

Pollock will be at a “Meet and Greet” gathering, scheduled to take place Monday, May 14, from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. in the LCHS cafeteria.

Pollock coached until recently at Grayson High School, located in Gwinnett County. It is a large school, with over 2,500 students. The football team is classified as 7-A, one of the largest in Georgia.

He is no stranger, however, to small towns. He grew up in Camilla, Georgia, and has coached in small towns including Baxley, Sandersville, and Swainsboro. He already feels at home here, he indicated.

Pollock is 47, married to his wife, Shannon, and has two daughters; Ragan, 21, is currently a junior at the University of Georgia, and Brennan, 17, still attends Union Grove High School in McDonough, Georgia.

“It takes a lot of time and effort to get the players to trust you. They have to know you care about them, both on and off the field. If they feel that, they will give you 100 percent on the field,” said Pollock. He went on to remark that coaching in Lincolnton is a great opportunity for him.

Pollock also commented that the Red Devils would have only two weeks of practice under their belts when they play the Red and White scrimmage game May 18, and he invited the public to attend and watch.

“After that, I’m looking forward to having an effective summer with the players. My goal is build a relationship with the team. I want to get to know them better, and hopefully we will go into the fall with a real positive attitude. I’m looking forward to it,” said Pollock.
