Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Sons to meet

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Story time at library

Story time is back at the library! Every Thursday at 11:00 is Tod­dler Time. Bring your non-school aged children while a few books are read. This is a great opportunity for toddlers to socialize and find a new favorite book.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Silver Lining Foundation is a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. The Master’s Closet is in need of donations of maternity clothes siz­es large and XL. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or placed in the donation bin outside.

An Evening of Jazz

An Evening of Jazz sponsored by The Georgia Council for the Arts Vibrant Communities Grant will be held at the Lincoln County High School March 23 beginning at 6 p.m. with the Lincoln County Jazz Band. Mr. Joe Gransden and his band will perform a full evening of jazz beginning at 7 p.m. The high school art class will display multiple forms of their exceptional talent. Advance tickets are $10 each, $12 at the door and is brought to you by the Band Booster Club.

Applicants are needed in Lincoln County for a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act WIOA Pro­gram for out of school youth and young adults. They can help you get your GED, get training and get a job. Eligible requirements: 16-24 years old, not attending any school and must be a high school dropout, in the juvenile or adult justice system, homeless, runaway, in or aged out of foster care, pregnant or parenting, or disables. AA/Al Anon meeting

A planning meeting for the Gar­nett Harris family reunion will be held Sat., March 17, 4 p.m., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie J. Har­ris and family.

Three night revival

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220 W., Lincolnton, will host a three night spring revival, April 2-4, at 7 p.m. nightly. Guests will be, April 2 - Rev. Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. En­joy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Celebrate Recovery Thursday

First Assembly of God hosts Celebrate Recovery every Thurs­day evening at 6:30 pm with a light meal followed by large group wor­ship at 7 pm and small groups at 8 pm. First Assembly is located on the Thomson Highway. Call the church office at 359-7237 for more information.

CWRT to meet

The Civil War Round Table of Augusta will meet March 19, 6 - 8 p.m., at Good­will’s Snelling Center, 3165 Washington Road, Augusta. Meeting is $23 (includes dinner). Quilt show March 17

Community Threads, a program of the McCormick Arts Council (MACK) in McCormick, will pres­ent a National Quilting Day Quilt Show and open sew session Sat., March 17, noon - 8 p.m., at Hickory Knob State Resort Park. On display in the great room will be quilts and craft items made by this creative group of stitchers. The open sew session will be held in the Bordeaux Room for visitors to see work in progress. The park restaurant will be open for a special St Patrick’s Day buffet. Come join us to celebrate the art of quilting.

Scholarship available

High school seniors from Lincoln and Wilkes Counties may now apply for a scholarship sponsored by the Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA). Applications are available in the counselor’s office. The student must plan to attend a college or voca­tional school for the academic year 2018-2019, and write a 250-500 word essay on the topic, “A Higher Education Will Afford Me the Op­portunity to…” The deadline for submission of the essay and completed application to the high school counselor is Friday, March 30. The deadline for purchasing se­nior ads for the 2019 yearbook is Fri., May 4, 2018. Whole pages are $250, half-pages are $150.

BOE meeting dates

Lincoln County Board of Educa­tion 2018 meeting dates are: March 13, April 17, May 8, June 12, July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13, Dec. 11, and Jan. 8, 2019.

Blackburn fund at FSB

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank Michael and Mitch­ell Blackburn to help cover the expenses of medication, utilities, gas, restoration of electricity, and bringing the house wiring up to code, etc. If you would like to make a donations, it may be dropped off at the bank or mailed to FSB, P.O. Disaster fund at FSB

There has been a disaster fund opened at Farmers State Bank (listed as Curtis Disaster Fund). This is to support Sheryl Curtis who acquired severe damage to her home and vehicles due to a recent storm.

Pre-K registration

Lincoln County Schools Pre-K Registration 2018-2019 will be held Fri., March 16 at 8 a.m. at the old high school gym, 214 Lillian Sims Ave. Required documents to register students: accepted at registration, electricity, water agreement, pay­check stub, residential property tax bill, warranty/quit claim deed, home pur­chase agreement, will be accepted. Parent/guardian: birth certificate. If your name is not listed on the birth certificate, then we will need guardianship papers before the child can be enrolled. Additional Information: We will not register your child until we receive all required documents. Camping out at the old gym will not be permitted. We will not allow parents to line up before 7 a.m. Please do not bring children to Pre-K registration.

Mammograms available

The University Breast Health Center Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on March 1, March 6 and April 10, 2018. These mam­mograms are the key to lifesaving early detection of breast cancer. Yearly mammograms are covered by Medicare and most insurance companies for women age 40 and up. The BreasTest and More Program has funding available to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40 and up. Please call (706) 359-3154 to schedule an appointment. Please have your insurance card available for necessary information.

Zumba classes Tues., Thurs.

Zumba classes held every Tues and Thur night at 7:15 p.m. in the gym at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Dr. Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor, teaches this Latin dance inspired exercise class. Lots of fun and great exer­cise.

Egg hunt at St. Paul
