Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Blessed Hope Bible Baptist meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednes­days at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more informa­tion call 706-359-6759.

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Sons to meet

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Food Pantry hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be open, Thurs., Dec. 7th and 14th, and Fri., Dec. 15th from 9 - 12. They will be closed Dec. 21st and 28th and will re-open Thurs., Jan. 4, 2018.

Christmas program

The annual Christmas program will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Dec. 24 during regular worship service at 10:15. The youth will be in charge of the service. Fruit baskets will be distributed Sun., Dec. 17. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor

Christmas drive

Story time at library

Story time is back at the library! Every Thursday at 11:00 is Tod­dler Time. Bring your non-school aged children while a few books are read. This is a great opportunity for toddlers to socialize and find a new favorite book.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Silver Lining Foundation is a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Hender­son Logging); Brenda Danner Mc­Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616). In addition to recipes group pho­tos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Join Lincoln County 4-H

Show at Post 194

The number one touring Las Vegas Male Revue show will be at the Ameri­can Legion Post 194 Fri., Dec. 8. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are, $20 advance, $28 at the door, and $35 for VIP pack­age. Tickets may be purchased at the legion. Seating is limited.

Donations needed

The Master’s Closet is in need of donations of maternity clothes siz­es large and XL. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or placed in the donation bin outside.

Christmas dance

Thomas-Lane American Le­gion Post 597 will have its annual Christmas Dance on Sat., Dec. 23, featuring The South Atlantic Band of Augusta, Georgia. The dance will be from 8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Admission is $10 and refreshments will be served. Tickets may be purchased from members of the Post or for ad­ditional information, contact Post Commander Harvey Elam at 706- 359-4462. Come prepared for an evening of sultry sounds from this awesome band and loads of Christ­mas cheer. Please support your local veterans.

Candlelight service

Harmony Baptist Church Mis­sionary Ministry will be hosting their annual Missionary Candlelight Service Sun., Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. Rev. Audrey Hawkins of Second Mineral Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Warrenton, Georgia, will be in charge of the service. All are invited and welcomed.

Mobile mammography

The University Breast Health Center Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Dec. 14. These mammograms are the key to life­saving early detection of breast cancer. Yearly mammograms are covered by Medicare and most in­surance companies for women age 40 and up. The BreasTest and More Pro­gram has funding available to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40 and up. Steak dinners Fri.

American Legion Post 194 is still serving steak dinners every Friday night beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Services at Village Church

LCSSU to meet

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will convene Dec. 30 and 31st at Harmony Baptist Church. All executive board mem­bers need to be present at 3 p.m. All other committees meet at 4 p.m. This is the last session of the year. Rev. Freddie Neal is pastor.

Celebrate Recovery Thursday

First Assembly of God hosts Celebrate Recovery every Thurs­day evening at 6:30 pm with a light meal followed by large group wor­ship at 7 pm and small groups at 8 pm. First Assembly is located on the Thomson Highway. Call the church office at 359-7237 for more information.

AA/Al Anon meeting

There will be an Alcoholic Anon­ymous/ Al Anon meeting held at 6 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday at Faith Community Church Fellow­ship Hall located at the Thomson Hwy. (Hwy. 43) and Leathersville Rd., Lincolnton, Ga. The sign will read, “The Good Shepard Home.”

Zumba classes Tues., Thurs.

Zumba classes held every Tues and Thur night at 7:15 p.m. in the gym at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Dr. Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor, teaches this Latin dance inspired exercise class. Lots of fun and great exer­cise.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Joy service encounter

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Minis­tries will present a ‘Good Ole Fash­ion Joy Service Encounter’ Dec. 10, at 4 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pas­tor Tonita Cody of Parks Grove FBH Church. Faith Tabernacle is located at 249 Faith Lane, Lincolnton.

Disaster fund at FSB

There has been a disaster fund opened at Farmers State Bank (listed as Curtis Disaster Fund). This is to support Sheryl Curtis who acquired severe damage to her home and vehicles due to a recent storm.

Assessors meetings

The following dates are the 2017 reg­ular scheduled meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the conference of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, website, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify The Lincoln Journal. Tues., Dec. 19.

Pavilion, May House

The Lincoln County Historical Society encourages the use of the Lincoln County Historical Park for family and community events. The Lewis Family Pavilion and the May House make great venues for wed­dings, receptions, family reunions or other get- togethers. Fees are very reasonable and you don’t have to be a member to use the facility. Call (706) 359-3237 for details and information.

Turkey shoot Dec. 9

A turkey shoot to benefit Jamie Corey will be held Sat., Dec. 9, at Norman’s Wrecking beginning at 10 a.m. The drawing for a gun will be held at 12. All support will be greatly appreciated.

Candlelight communion

The annual candlelight com­munion observance will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Christmas Eve, Sun., Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. Rev. Franklin Jones, pastor of Freedom Ministries Church, will be guest minister. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Christmas storytime

Nicky Smith, at 112 Main in downtown Lincolnton, especially invites Ladies to come to the shop and enjoy a delightful Christmas storytime for ladies, Sat., Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. Everyone, includ­ing children, are invited. A special children’s storytime will follow at approximately 11:30. There will be plenty of time to attend and shop before downtown streets close in the afternoon.

Christmas at St. Paul

St. Paul United Methodist Church, 3235 Thomson Hwy., will be host­ing a Christmas party this Sun., Dec. 10. The community is invited to join us in the sanctuary at 6 p.m. to hear the story of the nativity and sing Christmas carols. The program will be followed by refreshments in the fellowship hall. Drive through lights

Teresa Burgess and Debra Lynne Poland are hosting their annual holiday light canned goods and pet food drive Sat., Dec. 16, at their residence, 2173 Augusta Hwy., Lincolnton, between 6-10 p.m. Take a minute to drive through and enjoy the lights and music and drop off a donation to the Lincoln County Food Pantry, Washington Wilkes DAWGS and Humane Society of McCormick County.

Canned food drive

Lincoln County High School FC­CLA challenged Elbert County to a canned food drive and are asking for canned goods to be brought to the LCHS vs ECCHS home game Dec. 20. The winner will be announced at halftime during the boys game with a trophy presentation.

Class reunion meeting

Lincoln County Class of 1939- 1974 will have a reunion meeting Sun., Dec. 10, 4 p.m. at the library.

Revival at Solomon Pool

Solomon Pool Deliverance Minis­try and Pastor Peggy Zellars invites everyone to revival Wed. - Fri., Dec. 6-8 at 7 p.m. nightly. The speaker is Prophet Robbie B. Riley Sr. of Birmingham, Alabama.
