Residents invited to Christmas act at First Assembly

First Assembly of God is helping to usher in the holiday season in Lincoln County, as the church will conduct “The Melody of Christmas,” a celebration of the sights and sounds of the Christmas season, on Sunday and Monday, December 3 and 4.

“The whole community is invited to attend, and it’s appropriate for all ages,” Co-Pastor Terry Bonds said. “We view this as First Assembly’s gift to Lincoln County and to the surrounding counties during this holiday season.”

Admission is free, and three performances will be given on each night beginning at 6 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

The 20-minute musical presentations will consist of the many sights and sounds of Christmas, and guests can expect storytelling and a variety of musical ensembles.

The performance will showcase a jazz band musical selection; barbershop quartet; Charles Dickens-esque carolers; the kids choir performing “Let it Snow;” and a special narration of “the most important sound of Christmas – the Christmas story;” along with a live nativity scene which will include a collaboration of choirs performing “O Holy Night.”

After the presentation, guests are asked exit toward the back of the building, and head toward the big, white tent at the Family Life Center, where there will be a petting zoo for the children to enjoy, and refreshments.

Youth from the church will have the Missions Christmas Store open, where they will have new or slightly used Christmas decorations for sale. All proceeds from the store will go toward supporting First Assembly’s missions operations.

Special thanks have been given to Mil and Denise Hammock for designing the elaborate, beautiful sets and props for the Melody of Christmas.

First Assembly of God is located at 328 May Avenue.
