Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting on the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services Blessed Hope Bible Baptist meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednes­days at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more informa­tion call 706-359-6759.

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Sons to meet

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Silver Lining Foundation is a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Midway cookbook

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Appreciation dinner

The Ladies Auxiliary of Post 597, Lincolnton, invites all veter­ans and one guest to an apprecia­tion dinner to be held on Veterans Day, Sat., Nov. 11, 4 p.m. at Post 597 located on Thomas Lane Post Road. A brief program will be held and dinner will be served. The event is casual. If you know a veteran who may not see this announcement please let them know.

American Legion Post 194 is still serving steak dinners every Friday night beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Pastoral anniversary

True Friendship Church, 3086 Chamberlain Ferry Rd., will be celebrating its pastor’s fifth an­niversary and 10 years in ministry, on Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. Pastor O’Marr Curry and Rhema Christian Fellow­ship Church of Athens, Georgia will be the guest church. LCSSU to meet

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will convene Dec. 30 and 31st at Harmony Baptist Church. All executive board mem­bers need to be present at 3 p.m. All other committees meet at 4 p.m. This is the last session of the year. Rev. Freddie Neal is pastor.

Donations needed for Pioneer Day

Lincoln County Historical Society needs donations for the upcoming Pioneer Day. They are in need of items to sell in the country store such as hand-made pot holders, aprons, bonnets, etc., and baked goods. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Pioneer Day will be held Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. They will be at the park Wednesday the 15th and Friday the 17th setting up and would love to see folks stop­ping by to donate hand-made items (Wed. or Fri.) and baked goods (Fri.). Thanksgiving program

The annual combined Thanks­giving program between Mulberry CME Church and Newberry Mis­sionary Baptist Church will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Tues., Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. Rev. McDaniel and Mulberry CME Church will be in charge of the services. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

The 32nd pastoral anniversary of Rev. Willie J. White will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Dec. 3 at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Nathan Williams, pastor of Eastland Baptist Church, Augusta, will be guest minister.

The Master’s Closet is in need of donations of maternity clothes sizes large and XL. Donations may be dropped off Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. or placed in the donation bin out­side.

Pavilion, May House

The Lincoln County Historical Society encourages the use of the Lincoln County Historical Park for family and community events. The Lewis Family Pavilion and the May House make great venues for wed­dings, receptions, family reunions or other get- togethers. Fees are very reasonable and you don’t have to be a member to use the facility. Call (706) 359-3237 for details and information.

Assessors meetings

The following dates are the 2017 reg­ular scheduled meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the conference of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, website, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify The Lincoln Journal. Tues., Nov. 21; Tues., Dec. 19.

Mobile mammography

The University Breast Health Center Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department Dec. 14. These mammograms are the key to life­saving early detection of breast cancer. Yearly mammograms are covered by Medicare and most in­surance companies for women age 40 and up. The BreasTest and More Program has funding available to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40 and up. Please call (706) 359-3154 to schedule an appointment. Please have your insurance card available for necessary information.

Pre-Thanksgiving service

Freedom Ministries Church will host a pre-Thanksgiving service Wed., Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Tonita Cody of Parks Grove F. B. H. Church, Lincolnton, will be the guest speaker.

Christmas drive

Homecoming service

Faith Community Church will be celebrating Homecoming 2017 on Sun., Nov. 19, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Rev Donald Brady will be the speaker. Please make note that this event will be held at the Lincoln County High School Auditorium located on Metasville Rd. and not at the church location. Children’s church and nursery will be pro­vided.

Story time at library

Story time is back at the library! Every Thursday at 11:00 is Tod­dler Time. Bring your non-school aged children while a few books are read. This is a great opportunity for toddlers to socialize and find a new favorite book.

Holiday hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be open each Thursday from 9 - 12 Nov. 2, 9, and 16. We will be open, Mon., Nov. 20 from 9 - noon; closed Nov. 23 in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Lincoln County Food Pantry announces its holiday hours. They will be open each Thursday from 9:00-12;00 on 11/2, 11/9, & 11/16. We will be open, Monday, Novem­ber 20th from 9:00-Noon, closed November 23rd in observance of Thanksgiving!

Church anniversary

Freedom Ministries Church will celebrate its church anniversary Sun., Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. Rev. Willie J. White of Newberry Mission­ary Baptist Church of Lincolnton, will be the guest speaker and his church family will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served following the service.

Celebrate Recovery Thursday

First Assembly of God hosts Celebrate Recovery every Thurs­day evening at 6:30 pm with a light meal followed by large group wor­ship at 7 pm and small groups at 8 pm. First Assembly is located on the Thomson Highway. Call the church office at 359-7237 for more information.

Show at Post 194

The number one touring Las Vegas Male Revue show will be at the Ameri­can Legion Post 194 Fri., Dec. 8. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are, $20 advance, $28 at the door, and $35 for VIP pack­age. Tickets may be purchased at the legion. Seating is limited.

Yard sale Saturday

A yard sale will be held Sat., Nov. 18, 1288 Rowland York Dr., 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to support the Invisible Realm Organization to build churches, safe houses, and help young ladies escape sex slavery in Southeast Asia. Lots of household items and clothing for boys, girls, ladies and men. All support is ap­preciated.

Zumba classes Tues., Thurs.

Zumba classes held every Tues and Thur night at 7:15 p.m. in the gym at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Dr. Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor, teaches this Latin dance inspired exercise class. Lots of fun and great exer­cise.

Choir anniversary

Tha Red Pride Marching Band will be selling fruit from Nov 3 - Nov 17. Family, friends service

White Rock Baptist Church will host its annual family and friends worship services Sun., Nov. 19, 3 p.m. Rev. Tonita Cody and Parks Fire Baptized Holiness Church, Lincolnton, will be in charge of the services.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Barbecue plate sale

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is selling barbecue plates on Thurs., Nov. 16, 5 - 7 p.m. at the fellowship hall. Plates are $10 each and will have barbecue, hash, rice, baked beans, slaw, bread, and a des­sert. Tickets can be purchased at the church office from Oct. 23 - Nov. 2. Water, Gatorade needed

All Red Devil parents and fans it’s time for our annual water and Gatorade/Powerade donation for our beloved Red Devil football team. We are asking for donations of one case of water and one case of Gatorade/Powerade for our players to have to hydrate for each game. Disaster fund at FSB

There has been a disaster fund opened at Farmers State Bank (listed as Curtis Disaster Fund). This is to support Sheryl Curtis who acquired severe damage to her home and vehicles due to a recent storm.
