Governor Nathan Deal of the state of Georgia has proclaimed the day of Sunday, November 5, 2017, as Retired Educators Day in Georgia. In conjunction with Governor Deal’s proclamation for Georgia, Chairman of Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Walker Norman signed a proclamation declaring that the same day will be Retired Educators Day in Lincoln County.

The proclamations state that there are more than 121,000 retired educators in Georgia, 28,000 plus of whom are members of the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Retired educators donate thousands of hours to volunteer service and make invaluable contributions to the welfare of their respective communities across the state.

Citizens are urged to observe November 5, 2017, in an appropriate manner honoring retired educators in Lincoln County as well as retired educators throughout Georgia.
