The members were given a bribe of daffodil bulbs each in exchange for volunteering for committee work! What a deal! With the help of every member our club can get so much accomplished for Lincolnton and Lincoln County! And that is our club's purpose: to bring beauty to every lawn and garden in our area!

For our first project on November 8th, our club along with Garden Clubs of Georgia will plant our state park yellow by planting two hundred yellow daffodil bulbs at Elijah Clark State Park! While later this year, we plan to Plant America along with the National Garden Club by planting a tree in a public place around Lincolnton.

A wonderful program was enjoyed as Mr. Dan Whitehead, Horticulturist, showed us some of his photography and descriptions of various trees good for our area. Beech trees and American Hornbeam or Muscle Wood Beech or Blue Beech are nice for our area. He answered many questions about our members' own trees. And he gave away gifts to several presPine ent: two of our visitors were lucky enough to take home pecans and blueberry syrup! Wow!

Our club purchased a nice book to donate to our Lincoln County Library, "Hutchinson's Tree Book" by Bob H. Head. We hope everyone will take a look and Plant America!

The next meeting will be the third Monday in October, 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Lincoln County Library-Humphrey Street Entrance. Hostesses will be: Mrs. Norma McKinney and Mrs. Gloria Brooks. Make plans to attend, and Grab-Somebody-and Go!
