Park officials offer merchants free advertising space for fall

Local businesses are invited to participate in decorating Elijah Clark State Park for the fall season.

According to officials, this is an opportunity for businesses to advertise for free at the park, which will also be featured during the anticipated fall festival, slated for the weekend of October 6, and the special Halloween weekend set for October 27.

Those with the park reported that last year both programs filled the park with visitors.

The space will be provided, and those interested will decorate an 8x5 foot area in the fall theme of their choosing.

Decorations should be up by October 3 and taken down by November 3.

A large church group has also reserved 75 campsites and two cottages from October 2-13, and will need information on local vendors in Lincolnton.

Rules for participation are as follows:

1. Businesses must complete the correct form and return it to the park by September 29.

2. At no cost to the vendor, an area will be provided by the park for decorating.

3. Hay bales must be used.

4. Latex paint may be applied to the hay bales, however no paint may be applied to the blacktop.

5. Businesses are responsible for removal of all items by November 3.

6. All fall themes must be original, and no vulgar or suggestive decorations will be allowed.

7. Only non-perishable items may be used in decorating (with the exception of pumpkins), and the fall theme must be maintained throughout the duration of the display.
