LCES will host training session for volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help at the Lincoln County Elementary School for the 2017-2018 year. Open to parents, guardians, and other community members, a preparatory volunteer training session will be held at the elementary school on Thursday, September 14, at 8:30 a.m.

“While we do the volunteer training so parents and the community can help aid us, we also do this to help bridge the gap between the school and community by getting them involved,” LCES counselor Lindsay Dunn said.

She also highlighted the training’s purpose, which impresses that, “The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

“The purpose of this training is to involve parents, community members, adults, and others in our school in a variety of ways,” Dunn added. “The training will last about 45 minutes and consist of reviewing the policies and procedures of the school, mandated reporting, and different types of volunteering available.”

Volunteers are welcome to aid the school for special events such as field day, PBIS incentives, grade level celebrations, and more.

Volunteers are also welcome to aid the classroom teachers through running groups and aiding in activities on a routine basis.

After the training, a picture of each volunteer will be taken for identification badges.

Furthermore, Dunn also highlighted pertinent dates for parents and guardians to be aware of in addition to the upcoming volunteer training session.

Those dates include: l Thursday, September 14 – Picture Day. l Thursday, October 5 – Early Release Day. l Friday, October 6 – Student Fall Holiday. l Monday, October, 9 – Student Fall Holiday.
