Elijah Clark Park to hold Back-to-School Bash Sat.

Even though children have com­menced with the new school year, summer is far from over, so Elijah Clark State Park will continue to host several family-friendly events throughout the month of August.

A special “Back-to-School Bash” is slated for Saturday, August 5, from 2-4 p.m.

According to park staff, “this water fun activity is a great way to end out the summer with squirt guns, water balloons, sprinklers, and buckets of fun.”

The event will include a canoe adventure on the lake, and each par­ticipate will receive a bag of school supplies to start off the new semester with. The cost is $5.

“Putt-Putt and a Movie” will also be held on Saturday, August 5, be­ginning at 8:30 p.m.

Those interested are asked to take a lawn chair and their “best game of golf” with them as a fun-filled evening of putt-putt and movie watching will take place. The golf course will be open after hours for the entertainment of park guests. The cost is $6.

“Archery for Beginners” will be held every Saturday throughout August, from 10-11 a.m.

At this event, children will learn how to shoot with a bow and arrow, as well as sharpen their archery skills. An experienced park ranger will act as a guide for this event. The cost is $5, and pre-registration is encouraged due to limited space in the program

A “Moonlight Canoe Trip” is planned for Monday, August 7, from 8-9:30 p.m.

Guests will participate in a moonlit canoe paddle on Clark’s Hill Lake, when the moon will be at it’.s .big­gest and brightest. Equipment will be provided, with the paddle being led by certified instructors, so that participants can see the water “in a whole different light.” The cost is $10-$15, and those interested must register no later than August 6.

A special “Glow-in-the-Dark Putt- Putt” is slated for Friday, August 11, beginning at 9 p.m.

The putt-putt course is set to “glow with excitement,” as golf balls and course holes are will light up the night for a fun evening of competi­tion.

Glow-in-the-dark prizes will be awarded throughout the night. The cost to participate is $6.

“Flip-Flop Wreath Swag” has been scheduled for Saturday, August 12, at 9 a.m.

Since summers at Elijah Clark include flip-flops, sunglasses, and the lake, the park’s staff is inviting guests to create their very own flip- flop wreath swag to commemorate their summer fun. Flip-.flops,...deco­rations, and paint will be provided, guests need only take their creativity with them. The cost is $5.

The “Solar Eclipse by Kayak” event has been scheduled for Mon­day, August 21, from 1-3 p.m.

For this free event, participants will join the park’s naturalist in a paddle around Clark’s Hill Lake in search of the best spot to enjoy the upcoming, epic solar eclipse.
