Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting is the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Sons to meet

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Silver Lining Foundation is a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Senior portraits July 27, 28

Senior Portraits for the 2018 LCHS yearbook will be taken July 27 and July 28 in the high school auditorium. Rising seniors will receive information from Prestige Portraits in the mail. You must be photographed by Prestige Portraits to appear in the senior section of the yearbook. If your mailing address has changed, contact the high school office for information.

Sunday school union meets

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will be held at White Rock Baptist Church July 29-30. The Standing Committee needs to be present at 4 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday, at 10 a.m. will be Sunday school with White Rock teachers. Rev. Dennis Quinn will bring the message. Rev. Seymore Harrison is pastor.

Norman reunion Aug. 4, 5

All descendants and connected families of Rev. War soldier, Wil­liam Norman are invited to attend the biennial reunion Aug. 4 and 5 at the Lincoln Center in Lin­colnton. Events include a casual get-together on Friday night, reg­istration at 6 p.m. and socializing from 7-9 p.m. Guided tour of the ancestral cemeteries on Saturday morning leaves the Lincoln Center at 9 a.m. sharp. A memorial service at Midway UMC at 1:30 p.m. will be held to honor those Norman descendants and spouses who have passed away since the last reunion. Business meeting fol­lows. Homecoming at Harmony

Homecoming services will be held at Harmony Baptist Church, Lincolnton, Sun., Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. Rev. Leroy Hudson and Thankful Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia, will be in charge of the service. Filled book bag give-away

Faith Community is excited to announce Equip 2017 is here! Equip is a community outreach project in which we give out book bags filled with every item on that particular student’s school list. This event will take place Sun., July 30 at 10:30 a.m. You must register by calling 770-296-8467. The first 175 students to call will be registered.

Membership meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society will have a monthly mem­bership meeting Wed., Aug. 2 in the May House. Pot luck lunch will be enjoyed at noon followed by a busi­ness meeting with Pioneer Day on the agenda. There will be a Board of Directors meeting Mon., July 31st at 7 p.m. The Wednesday morning work group is at the park every Wednes­day and would welcome more work­ers. The next History in the Park talk is the evening of Thurs., Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., historian Steve Rauch will present “The War of 1812 in Georgia.”

Assessors meetings

The following dates are the 2017 regular scheduled meetings of the Lin­coln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the conference of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, website, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify The Lincoln Jour­nal. Tues., Aug. 15; Tues., Sept. 19; Tues., Oct. 17; Tues., Nov. 21; Tues., Dec. 19.

Brown, Austion reunion

A church anniversary community cookout will be held at the Elberton location on Sat., Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and on Sun., Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. in the Lincolnton location, (3086 Chamberlain Ferry) for the church anniversary.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Homecoming Aug. 13

Hephzibah Baptist Church will have Homecoming Sun., Aug. 13. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., a special worship service at 11 a.m., and a barbecue and covered dish on the grounds beginning at 12:15.

Homecoming services at Har­mony Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will be held Sun., Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. Rev. Leroy Hudson and Thankful Baptist Church, Thomson, will be in charge of the service. Reserved seats

Reserved seats for the 2017 Red Devil Football Season will be on sale at the high school, 200 Charles Ward Elam Dr., beginning Tues., Aug. 8. The ticket window will be open daily from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you have purchased season tickets in the past, your seat(s) will be held until Wed., Aug. 23, at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list. Season ticket packets (four games) are $40; general ad­mission tickets will be $8. If you choose to give up your seats, you have the option of passing them to your children or a member of your immediate family, or return­ing them to the athletic office. If you are unable to pick up your tickets and would like someone to pick them up for you, please call Nancy Hardeman at 706-359-3121, ext. 3203. Tickets will not be released to anyone unless notified by the ticket holder. Please also notify Nancy if you do not wish to purchase your seats.

Alzheimer walk Nov. 4

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Saturday, November 4 at the Colum­bia County Amphitheater in Augusta. Nearly 900 people from Augusta and surrounding counties are expected at this year’s event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s dis­ease. Walk participants will complete a two-mile walk and will learn about Al­zheimer’s disease, advocacy opportu­nities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Partici­pants will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those af­fected by Alzheimer’s disease. In Georgia alone, there are more than 140,000 people living with the disease and 519,000 caregivers. In the United States, more than 5 mil­lion Americans are living with Al­zheimer’s disease, the sixth-leading cause of death in and the only disease among the top 10 causes that cannot be cured, prevented or even slowed. Additionally, more than 15 million family and friends provide care to people with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Register today.
