Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Blessed Hope Bible Baptist meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednes­days at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more informa­tion call 706-359-6759.

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

Sons to meet

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Senior portraits July 27, 28

Senior Portraits for the 2018 LCHS yearbook will be taken July 27 and July 28 in the high school auditorium. Rising seniors will receive information from Prestige Portraits in the mail. You must be photographed by Prestige Portraits to appear in the senior section of the yearbook. If your mailing address has changed, contact the high school office for information.

Sunday school union meets

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will be held at White Rock Baptist Church July 29-30. The Standing Committee needs to be present at 4 p.m. on Saturday and on Sunday, at 10 a.m. will be Sunday school with White Rock teachers. Rev. Dennis Quinn will bring the message. Rev. Seymore Harrison is pastor.

Norman reunion Aug. 4, 5

All descendants and connected families of Rev. War soldier, Wil­liam Norman are invited to attend the biennial reunion Aug. 4 and 5 at the Lincoln Center in Lin­colnton. Events include a casual get-together on Friday night, reg­istration at 6 p.m. and socializing from 7-9 p.m. Guided tour of the ancestral cemeteries on Saturday morning leaves the Lincoln Center at 9 a.m. sharp. A memorial service at Midway UMC at 1:30 p.m. will be held to honor those Norman descendants and spouses who have passed away since the last reunion. Business meeting fol­lows. Reservations required for the BBQ chicken dinner, 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Lincoln Center. Deadline is July 26th! $15 for adults, children 6-12 $10, free (under 6 yrs.) Membership meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society will have a monthly mem­bership meeting Wed., Aug. 2 in the May House. Pot luck lunch will be enjoyed at noon followed by a busi­ness meeting with Pioneer Day on the agenda. There will be a Board of Directors meeting Mon., July 31st at 7 p.m. The Wednesday morning work group is at the park every Wednes­day and would welcome more work­ers. The next History in the Park talk is the evening of Thurs., Aug. 3 at 7 p.m., historian Steve Rauch will present “The War of 1812 in Georgia.”

Fishing Creek Homecoming

Fishing Creek Baptist Church will hold its homecoming service on Sun., July 23, at 11 a.m. Rev. Andy Perryman, association mis­sionary, will bring the message. Duane Smith will present special music during the service. Follow­ing the worship service, a barbecue pork and covered dish meal will be served. Revival services will begin on Mon., July 24, at 8 p.m. and continue through Fri., July 28. Dr. Ben Glosson, pastor of Hoboken Baptist Church, Hoboken, Georgia, will be the guest evangelist. There will be special music each night. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy these services and good Christian fellowship. Rev. Roy Cates is pastor.

Assessors meetings

The following dates are the 2017 regular scheduled meetings of the Lin­coln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the conference of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors office. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, website, and the front door of the Tax Assessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify The Lincoln Jour­nal. Tues., Aug. 15; Tues., Sept. 19; Tues., Oct. 17; Tues., Nov. 21; Tues., Dec. 19.

True Friendship Church will cel­ebrate its fifth anniversary beginning with a church anniversary revival in the Elberton location (1507 Falling Creek Way, Elberton) July 31-Aug. 2, at 7:30 p.m. Guest revivalists will be: July 31 - Rev. Cedric Quinn and First Baptist Church of Lincolnton; Aug. 1 - Bishop Emanuel Spearman and Bethel Baptist Church of Cross Hill, S.C.; Aug. 2 - Pastor O’Marr Curry and Rhema Christian Fellow­ship of Athens, Georgia. A church anniversary community cookout will be held at the Elberton location on Sat., Aug. 5, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and on Sun., Aug. 6 at 3 p.m. in the Lincolnton location, (3086 Chamberlain Ferry) for the church anniversary.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Filled book bag give-away

Faith Community is excited to announce Equip 2017 is here! Equip is a community outreach project in which we give out book bags filled with every item on that particular student’s school list. Homecoming Aug. 13

New Hope Baptist Church will cel­ebrate Homecoming Sun., Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hal Hodgens bringing the message. A famous barbecue covered dish luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall after the service. Please come and join us. Homecoming services at Har­mony Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will be held Sun., Aug. 6 at 2 p.m. Rev. Leroy Hudson and Thankful Baptist Church, Thomson, will be in charge of the service. Everyone is invited and welcomed to join us on our special day. Revival services will be held beginning each night at 7:30 p.m., Mon., Aug. 7 - Wed., Aug. 9. Revivalist will be Rev.
