Marvin Dunaway Hammond

Marvin Dunaway Hammond, 88, of Gary Drive, died Monday, June 5, 2017, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Overbrook Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Allen officiating.

Mr. Hammond was born on Oc­tober 12, 1928 in Lincolnton, Ga to the late Leonard Gibson Ham­mond and Laura G Jones.

He was predeceased by his wife Betty Seigler Hammond. Marvin and his wife opened a dry-cleaning business in Lincolnton and later open one in McCormick. He was a member and a deacon of McCor­mickFrist Baptist Church. He was a retired commissioner with CPW with the new building being dedi­Marvin cated in his name. He was a mem­ber of McCormick Country Club, Gun Club, and a member of Lin­colnton Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

Marvin was the last survivor of eleven children.

Survivors include his son, Tom Hammond (Ann), Saluda; two grandchildren, Lori Holliday, Mc­Cormick, and Ali Stigall (Chris), Anderson; two-step grandchildren, John Lorick (Jessica), and Amanda Hyder (Michael); a great-grand­child, Hailey Holliday; four step- great grandchildren, Landen Lo­rick, Cooper Lorick, Davin Hyder, and Lillie Hyder; a great-great grandchild, Landon Griffin.

Strom Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
