William Lumpkin Walker Jr.

William Lumpkin Walker Jr., born April 8, 1942, left this earth on the morning of Sunday, May 7, 2017.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Hopkins Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Rayner officiating. Inter­ment followed at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Tignall, where a U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team performed Burial Honors.

He was a Navy man who served on the USS Hector AR7, was a mas­ter chef, nurse, realtor, an umpire for women’s softball, founder and president of the American Pinochle Association (APA), and was a true Renaissance man.

He is survived by his wife, Jen­nifer Beers Walker; two brothers, Don and Jon Walker; three daugh­ters, Tonia Carr, Cheryl Moore, and Virginia Soto; seven grandchildren, Tabatha Harris, Ashley Edwards, Zayne Cranford, Kristen Walker, Marianna Shellingburg, Jessica Soto, and Victoria Soto; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin, and Haileigh Harris.
