Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Blessed Hope Bible Baptist meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednes­days at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more informa­tion call 706-359-6759.

Eastern Star to meet

Order of the Eastern Star meets the second Monday of every month. A covered dish meal begins at 7 p.m., the meeting begins at 8 p.m.

The Sons of American Legion Squadron 194 will meet at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30. Everyone ages 18 and up are invited. Dress is casual. Call 706- 294-7195 for more information.

Services at Village Church

If you are seeking God’s pres­ence in your life, we invite you to join us this Sunday as we worship together. Our purpose is to seek God, share life, study the Bible, and serve others. Pavilion, May House

The Lincoln County Historical Society encourages the use of the Lincoln County Historical Park for family and community events. The Lewis Family Pavilion and the May House make great venues for wed­dings, receptions, family reunions or other get- togethers. Fees are very reasonable and you don’t have to be a member to use the facility. Call (706) 359-3237 for details and information.

Community cookout

The Many Faces of Christ, the Christian ministry of Superb Loca­tions, LLC of Lincolnton, will host a community cookout Sat., May 20 at 1361 Firetower Rd., Lincolnton, from noon - 2 p.m. It is open to the entire community and will include hotdogs, chips, and drinks for ev­eryone and crafts for children.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

The Silver Lining Foundation is a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Parks Grove FBH Church is hold­ing a substance abuse class every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. It’s open to men and women who are struggling with any type of addic­tion.

Cinnamon rolls for sale

LCHS FCCLA will be making cinnamon rolls Fri., May 12. Sadly, this will be the last time they will be made this school year. They will be ready for pick up after 2 p.m. Thank you for buying cinnamon rolls this year and helping send the three FCCLA members to National Competitions this summer. Fishing rodeo May 20

The Fish for Life Kids Fishing Rodeo and Family Day will be held at Wildwood Park, Appling, Georgia, May 20, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The rodeo will be open to children ages 2-8 and 9-14. Bring your own pole and bait. Fishing 9 – 1. Other activities to include inflatables, hula hoop contest, nickels in a haystack, balloon animals, face painting, live characters, cotton candy, popcorn, and cake walk. Lunch provided. All food and games are free.

The 144th anniversary observance of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will be held Sun., May 21 at 2 p.m. Rev. Echols Miller, pas­tor of Second Mt. Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cook­book compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Plant swap and sale

The Pine Needle Garden Club of Lincolnton’s Annual Plant Swap and Sale will be held May 20th, 8 a.m. - noon, on the grassy area near Bell’s Food Store, Anyone who has plants to donate are welcome to bring plants by. No greenhouses or vendors may purchase flowers, please. Our plant, swap and sale is to beautify the Lincolnton area.

Assessors meetings

The following dates are the 2017 regular scheduled meetings of the Lin­coln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the conference of the Lincoln County Courthouse. Any changes in meetings, dates, and times will be posted on bulletin board of the Lincoln County Courthouse, web­site, and the front door of the Tax As­sessors Office. When time allows, we will also notify the Lincoln Journal. Tues., May 16; Tues., June 20; Tues., July 18; Tues., Aug. 15; Tues., Sept. 19; Tues., Oct. 17; Tues., Nov. 21; Tues., Dec. 19.

VBS at LBC

Come join Lincolnton Baptist Church us as they plunge into a cold world and God’s wonderful word at Operation Arctic, as we look at the coolest book on the planet – the Bible! Star Wars movie night

A long time ago (forty to be exact) in movie theatres across the na­tion “Star Wars” was born! Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Star Wars” on May 25 at Lin­colnton United Methodist Church with a special showing of the epic adventure beginning at 8:30 p.m., with free popcorn and drinks pro­vided. Star Wars fans of all ages are welcome! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and costumes, for a fun, family-friendly night!
