Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets at 7 p.m. every first Monday in each month at the Lin­coln County Public Library. In or­der to s83 tay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens. You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by con­tributing ($2.00) monthly. Pastoral anniversary

The 30th pastoral anniversary of Rev. Willie J. White will be held a Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., December 6. Sunday School will not be held and worship service will being at 12 noon for this Sunday only. The guest minister will be Rev. Herman Bing, pastor of Carpen­tersville Baptist Church, North Au­gusta, S.C.

Thanksgiving service

True Friendship Church will have Thanksgiving Service Tues., Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. Cades Chapel Baptist Church will be special guest. Rev. Daravious S. Cullars is pastor.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anony­mous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Ap­pling, Georgia.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer International will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:15 a.m. in the Lincolnton Baptist Church fellowship hall. The organization gathers women together to pray specifically for children in schools. For more in­formation call 706-359-3303.

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, large variety salad bar, roll, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 5:30 p.m. Also a variety of beverages are now available. Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cook­book compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Zumba classes

Zumba classes are being offered at the Walker T. Norman Gym lo­cated at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex. Classes are taught by Stanley Singleton, a certified Zumba instructor. Classes will be held Tues. at 6:45 and Thurs. at 7 p.m. You can pay by the class or purchase a pack­age of six classes

Pantry holiday hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be open on Monday, Novem­ber 23rd from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. and closed on Thursday, November 26th in observance of Thanksgiv­ing. We will be open on Thursday, December 3rd from 9:00 to noon.

The Board of Tax Assessors 2015 scheduled meetings are as follow, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Dec. 15.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ball­room Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Miss Forestry pageant

Applications are being accepted for the 2nd Annual Miss Columbia County Forestry and Pine Seedling Scholarship Pageant. The pageant will be held March 12, 2016 in Evans Georgia. Age divisions are: Baby Miss, birth - 23 months; Teeny Miss, 2 - 3; Tiny Miss, 4 - 6; Little Miss, 7 - 9; Junior Miss, 10 - 12; Teen Miss, 13 - 16; and Miss, 17 - 24. The Lincoln County Historical Society encourages the use of the Lincoln County Historical Park for family and community events. The Lewis Family Pavilion and the May House make great venues for wed­dings, receptions, family reunions or other get- togethers. The Lincoln County Health De­partment is administering influenza vaccines Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (closed for lunch 12-12:30) Cost is $40 for flu mist (age 2-49) and $30 for injectable flu vaccine. Medicaid, Medicare Part B, State United Health Care, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, and Aetna can be billed. Call 706-359-3154 for more information.

Early deadline for holiday closing

In observance of Thanksgiving, The Lincoln Journal will be closed Thursday, November 26, and Fri­day, November 27. The deadline for the November 26 issue is 3 p.m. Friday, Novem­ber 20. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!

Board of elections

This is the new schedule for the board meetings of the Board of Elec­tions, please disregard the old schedule (schedule is subject to change). The dates are as follows: Nov. 19; Dec. 17. All meetings will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at the Lincoln Center at 5 p.m.

Sweet potato contest

Smith Farm Supply and the Wells Creek Garden Club are sponsoring a locally grown sweet potato contest at Pioneer Day on Nov. 21. Prizes will be awarded for the largest by weight and largest by volume. A prize will also be awarded for the most unusually shaped sweet potato. Bring your entries to the antique tractor area on the morning of Pio­neer Day. Prizes will be awarded at 1 p.m. Further details will be published in the Lincoln Journal.

Historical society drawing

The Lincoln County Historical Society will conduct a drawing for a 30-06 rifle with Nikon telescopic sight, and a Smith and Wesson M and P pistol in a choice of calibers, with the drawing on Pioneer Day, Nov. 21. You don’t have to be pres­ent to win. Tickets are $10 and only 150 tickets will be sold for each; tickets are available at Main Street Jewelry and Pawn, 118 Main Street in Lincolnton (beside B and J Ap­pliance); get one before they are gone!

Bag-A-Book sale Nov. 21

Are you a bibliophile and you don’t want people to know? It is okay if you are. There are many others like you. You and your bib­liophile friends are invited to act out your bibliophile behaviors by attending the Bag-A-Book Sale sponsored the Friends of the Lin­coln County Library. It will be held in the Lincoln County Library, in the Dova Partridge room, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday, No­vember 21, 2015. You may purchase any hardback book for one dollar and purchase as many soft backs you can stuff in a bag for $1.00. So all you need to bring are dollar bills. Hardback books $1 and a bag of soft back books for $1. We look forward to seeing you November 21st.

Freedom Ministries Church, 240 Lumber St., has Sunday school services at 10 a.m., worship service at 11:15 a.m. and Bible study every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Pas­tor Franklin and Co-Pastor, Kathy Jones.

Fall choir concert

The fall choir concert will be pre­sented at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 in the LCHS auditorium The concert includes the beginning choir, advanced choir and FORK (focus on retaining knowledge) classes. Each group will perform a variety of choral music from early Madri­gals with accompaniment by Cindy LeRoy on flute to a selection from Sister Act 2. James Hutton, Gina Sutton Abigail Burt, Abbie Cox, Isaiah Cannady, Metz LeRoy and Alexia Norman will perform so­los in several of the pieces. Joyful, Joyful from Sister Act 2 has been choreographed by Chip Woodall. The concert is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

Clothing give-away

A coat, jacket and sweater (and other clothing) give-away will take place at the Lincoln County Food Pantry from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Fri­day, November 20.
