Lions Club meeting

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Appling, Georgia.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Silver Lining anniv.

As we approach the sixth annivesary of the Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church we would like to thank you for your past support. As we continue to help those going thru cancer treatment, we hope that we can depend on your generosity this year.

Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Celebrate Recovery will be held at First Assembly of God, Lincolnton every Tuesday night. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 with the program beginning at 7 p.m.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer International will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:15 a.m. in the Lincolnton Baptist Church fellowship hall.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., March 12 at the Family Connection building, Lincolnton. All educators and friends of education are invited to attend.

Trial sermon

Cedric Quinn, son of Rev. Dennis Quinn, will be doing his trial sermon at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 5, at First Baptist Church. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

The Board of Tax Assessors 2015 scheduled meetings are as follow: March 17, April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Dec. 15.

New hours

The Master’s Closet, a ministry of LUMC, has added another open day which is the third Friday of the month from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Current hours are 11-2 on Tuesdays and Fridays each week and the first Saturday of each month.

Spring revival

Tabernacle Baptist Church Spring Revival will be held April 6-8 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest speakers will be: Mon. - Rev. Anthony Martin of Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Appling; Tues. - Rev. Seymore Harrison of White Rock Baptist Church, Lincolnton; Wed. - Rev. Christopher Leslie of Walnut Grove, Appling. Rev. Ray C. Lewis is pastor.

Country cooking

The Christian Service Organization will sponsor a county cooking supper at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Saturday, March 21 from 6-8 p.m. Cost for the supper will be $8.00 and will be prepared by church members and friends.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Larry and Missy Butler. Missy has been in the hospital for several weeks, having been diagnosed with cancer and now must begin a series of treatments. These funds will greatly assist them with financial needs, traveling to Augusta, and other expenses.

Pig Pickin & Wings

Pig Pickin’ & Wings with live music will be held at Lizzy’s Farm on Sat., April 4 beginning at 6 p.m. The farm is located at 3086 Long Rd., Lincolnton. Cost is $15 for all you can eat until it’s gone. Bring your chairs, a tent will be provided. Proceeds will go to The Little Roy and Lizzy Music Festival.

Jazz Dessert Concert

The Lincoln County Middle and High School Jazz Band will present its annual Jazz Dessert Concert on Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria featuring guest soloist JeRee Dukes.

Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased from any band parent or student. You may also purchase tickets from either schools main office or at the door.

Meeting schedule

The Board of Elections 2015 board meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the following dates: March 19, April 23, May 21, June 18, July 23, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 22, Nov. 10, Dec. 17. Meeting dates schedule is subject to change. All meetings are open to the public.

Evangelistic service

“Don’t Let the Green Grass Fool You.” evangelistic service will be presented at 5 p.m, Sunday, March 22 at Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries located at 249 Faith Lane in Lincolnton, Georgia.

Guest speaker will be Pastor Tonita Cody of Parks Praise Grove FBH Church of Lincolnton. All are invited.

Class meeting

There will be a class meeting held on Sun., March 22, 3 p.m. in the Lincoln County Library Conference Room. This is the first meeting and we are encouraging our members to come with ideas on locations, dates, fundraisers, and activities we can have to celebrate our class. Looking for old and new committee members eager to work with fresh ideas to make our reunion a success. If you are interested in becoming a part of the committee, we look forward to seeing you. This is our opportunity to create lasting memories for LCHS Class of 1990. Hope to see you there!

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, large variety salad bar, roll, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 5:30 p.m. Also a variety of beverages are now available.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ballroom Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30.

Family, friends day

True Friendship Church, 3086 Chamberlain Ferry Rd., will have its Annual Family and Friends Day on April 26 at 3 p.m. Pastor Willie White of Newberry Baptist Church, will bring the message. Everyone is welcome. Rev. Daracious Cullars is pastor.

Railroad Days

Camak Railroad Days 15th Annual Festival will be held April 4. The festival will include craft vendors, amusement rides, food vendors, and live local entertainment. Bring your lawn chairs. Easter egg hunt

Faith Community Church cordially invites you and all kids across this community to take part in the In Color Easter Egg Hunt that will take place on April 4th at 12:30 in the afternoon. The hunt will be located at the Lewis Family Pavilion. Kids from all over our community and area will get to take part in the hunt, food, games, prizes, and more! Passion Play March 29

First Assembly of God will present a Passion Play on Sun., March 29 at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Join us as we share the story of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection through music and drama. Historical Society to meet

The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at noon on April 1st with a traditional pot luck lunch followed by a brief business meeting with Grandkids Day on the agenda. The Board of Directors will meet at 7 p.m. on Mon., March 30. The April History in the Park talk will be by Rev. Tripp Goodwin on “The Faiths of our Founding Fathers” at 7 p.m. on April 2. Grandkids Day will be on Sat., June 6, all grandkids and grandparents will be welcome!

Mens conference

Solomon Pool Church will be having a men conference Sat., March 28 at 10 a.m. The speakers will be Pastor Ray Lewis of Tabernacle Baptist Church, and Pastor Franklin Jones of Freedom Ministry. The theme is “Will the Real Men Please Stand Up And Take Your Position.” The public is invited. Peggy Zellars is pastor.

Grace Believers service

Grace Believers Church will have service Sun. at 11 a.m. and prayer meeting and Bible study Wed. at 7 p.m. in the building formerly used to house Lincoln Artisans in downtown Lincolnton.

Brick sale

Freedom Ministries

Freedom Ministries Church, 240 Lumber St., has Sunday school services at 10 a.m., worship service at 11:15 a.m. and Bible study every Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Pastor Franklin and Co-Pastor, Kathy Jones.

Calendars support scholarship fund

The Lincolnton Lions Club is once again sponsoring a $500 scholarship for a senior at LCHS who is planning to further his or her education. An important component of the Lions Club Scholarship application is the student’s commitment to community service. Scholarship applications are available in the LCHS Guidance office. Applications are due on March 9th.

One of the ways the Lions Club funds the scholarship is through the sale of community birthday calendars. More that 1,000 local birthdays and anniversaries are listed on the calendar. Calendars are available for $5 each from Dr. or Mrs. Randall Edmunds, Mr. or Mrs. Allen Walker or Mr. or Mrs. Jim Butler. If interested in purchasing one, please contact one of the Lions Club members.

PCV-13 vaccine available

Lincoln County Health Department is now offering the PCV 13 vaccine to help prevent Pneumococcal Pneumonia for adults aged 65 years and older. Pneumococcal pneumonia puts over 300,000 adults aged 50 years and older in the hospital each year. Pneumococcal infections may be hard to treat because some strains of the bacteria have become resistant to the drugs that are used to treat them. This makes prevention of Pneumococcal infections through vaccination even more important. The PCV 13 vaccine protects against 13 Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes. Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets at 7 p.m. every first Monday in each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. In order to stay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens.

You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by contributing ($2.00) monthly. We look forward to hearing from you.

CCLC to meet

The next meeting of the Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will be March 19, 6:30 at the Lincoln County Library. Please come and join in our conversation. This month our guest speakers will include Nancy Blount with the Family Connection discussing services that are offered from the Family Connection and Carrie Parker with the Lincoln County Food Pantry, discussing the increasing need for assistants from the public. County Commissioner, Wade Johnson will give us an update on the county.

Please join us for a great discussion from our guest speakers. We are asking everyone to bring four cans or more of caned food for the pantry. Refreshments will be serviced.

LWREA scholarship

High school seniors from Lincoln and Wilkes Counties may apply for a scholarship sponsored by the Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association(LWREA). The student must plan to attend a college or vocational school for the academic year, 2015-2016; write a 250-500 word essay on the topic, “How Furthering My Education Will Impact Society.”

Applicants should provide a cover page including their name, date, name of high school, and the name of the college or vocational school that they plan to attend.

Civil War Round Table

The Civil War Round Table of Augusta meets the 3rd Monday of each month at The Snelling Center at the Goodwill Complex at 3165 Washington Rd.

Supper at 6 p.m. (Dutch Treat $12 includes tax and tip) provided by Edgar’s Restaurant. Membership is $25 per year individual/$40 couple.

Tabernacle Baptist Church have changed the date for their anniversary celebration from the second Sunday in May, which is Mother’s Day, to the first Sunday in May. Rev. Ray C. Lewis is pastor.

Towels for Tails

Donations of towels, sheets, or blankets are needed for WW Animal Shelter. Donations can be dropped off at Wilkes Co. Vet Services, Lincoln Co. Vet Services, Lincoln Animal Hospital or the shelter.

This is the new schedule for the board meetings of the Board of Elections, please disregard the old schedule (schedule is subject to change). The dates are as follows: March 26; April 23; May 28; June 25; July 23; Aug. 27; Sept. 24; Oct. 22; Nov. 19; Dec. 17. All meetings will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at the Lincoln Center at 5 p.m.
