Lions Club meeting

The Lincolnton Lions Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at The Lincoln County Library. Call Randall Edmunds at 706-359-1506 or Sharon Bryan at 706-359-1258for more information.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Appling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Blessed Hope Bible Baptist meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more information call 706-359-6759.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Volunteers needed

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministtries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner Mc- Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery will be held at First Assembly of God, Lincolnton every Tuesday night. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 with the program beginning at 7 p.m.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer International will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:15 a.m. in the Lincolnton Baptist Church fellowship hall.

The organization gathers women together to pray specifically for children in schools. For more information call 706-359-3303.

Class meeting

There will be a LCHS Class of 1990 class meeting for its 25th class reunion held on Sun., Feb. 8, at 3 p.m. Please call/text 706-401-8012, Facebook Courtney Hearst Leverette, or email Cleverette2713@gmail.com for directions to the location. This is the first meeting and we are encouraging our members to come with ideas on location, date, fundraisers, and activities we can have to celebrate our class. Missing funeral tent

Anyone with information about the theft of a funeral tent belonging to Strom Funeral Home is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office or Strom Funeral Home, 864- 465-2955.

The tent was taken sometime after Monday, January 26. It is a 15x15 green tent bearing the name “Strom” with an aluminum frame and custom made steel pegs.

Say It Loud program

The First Baptist Sunday School Department invite church choirs and praise teams its Say It Loud Program on Feb., 7. Your participation would be greatly appreciated. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Easter’s in concert

` Jeff and Sheri Easter will be in concert at First Assembly of God on Sun., Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. A love offering will be received and a nursery will be provided. For more information, call the church office at 359-7237.

The Board of Tax Assessors 2015 scheduled meetings are as follow: Feb. 17, March 17, April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Dec. 15.

Church anniversary

Brick sale

American Legion Post 194 is continuing its Veterans Memorial Brick sale. Anyone wanting to honor a family member or loved one who is active duty now or has served in the past, this is fitting tribute to them and their service. Contact Nelson Noble at 706-764-6506 for more information.

Women’s conference

The 2nd Annual Women in Fellowship Conference will be held Feb. 7, 10 a.m. at White Rock Baptist Church. Keynote speaker will be Rev. Naomi B. Cobb. Cost is $5 registration per person. Lunch will be served.

Reunion meeting

Classes of 1942-1970 will have a reunion meeting Sun., Feb. 8, 4 p.m. at the library. We will begin planning for our 2015 class reunion.

CCLC to meet

The next meeting of the Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will be Feb. 19, 6:30, at the Lincoln County Library. Please come and join our group for a great discussion. Our guest speakers will include Sheriff Bruce Beggs, Detective Jim Wallen and Commissioners Cooper Cliatt and Larry Collins. Please come and join us, refreshments will be served.

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors has a regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 17, at 6:30 p.m., in the grand jury room of the courthouse.

Saturday dance

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ballroom Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30.

New hours

The Master’s Closet, a ministry of LUMC, has added another open day which is the third Friday of the month from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Current hours are 11-2 on Tuesdays and Fridays each week and the first Saturday of each month.

Choir members needed

True Friendship is inviting all singers of Lincoln County and surrounding counties to be a part a community choir on Sat., Feb. 14, 3086 Chamberlain Ferry Rd., at 1 p.m. The choir will be under the direction of Minister Marquis Jones. Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets at 7 p.m. every first Monday in each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. In order to stay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens.

You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by contributing ($2.00) monthly. We look forward to hearing from you.

Black history service

First Baptist Church will have a Black History Service Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. Speaker will be Mrs. Darlene Murray Hite, a 1977 graduate of Lincoln County High School. A very inspiring service has been planned and the public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Reunion meeting

A Blackmon Wynn family reunion meeting will be held Feb. 7, 12 noon, at the home of Mary B. Andrews. Please attend to help plan the reunion.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln- Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at Mary Willis Library, Washington, 11 a.m., on Thurs., Feb. 12. All retired educators and friends of education are invited to attend.
