Lions Club meeting

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Dunn’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 6563 Ridge Road in Appling, Georgia.

Sunday services

Blessed Hope Ministries meets at the Presbyterian Church on Sundays at 11 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. for prayer meeting. Come join us. For more information call 706-359-6759.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Barbecue sandwiches

Pulled pork barbecue sandwiches, chips and a soda for just $5, bagged and ready to go before all Red Devil home games may be picked up at the Masonic Lodge, 152 Peachtree St., starting at 6 p.m. until sold out. Choir anniversary

The 16th Anniversary Observance of the Male Chorus of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will be held Sat., Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner Mc- Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery will be held at First Assembly of God, Lincolnton every Tuesday night. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 with the program beginning at 7 p.m.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer International will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:15 a.m. in the Lincolnton Baptist Church fellowship hall.

The organization gathers women together to pray specifically for children in schools. For more information call 706-359-3303.

New library hours

The Lincoln County Public Library now has new hours. They are: Mon., 9-6, Tues., 9-7, Wed, 9-4, Thurs., 9-6, Fri., 9-2, Sat., 9-2, and Sun., closed. The only changes are they will be closing early on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. instead of 4 p.m.

Volunteers needed

Do you enjoy helping others in your community? Regency Hospice is looking for volunteers to visit with our patients in homes, make flower arrangements, and/or assist with activities in facilities. Class of 74 to meet

Men, Womens Day

Annual Men and Womens Day will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Oct. 19 during regular worship service at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Daravious Cullars, pastor of True Friendship Church, will be guest minister. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Pioneer Day drawing

The Lincoln County Historical Society will conduct a drawing for a 30-06 rifle with Nikon telescopic sight and a Smith and Wesson pistol with the drawing on Pioneer Day, November 22nd. You don’t have to be present to win. Tickets are $10 and only 100 tickets for the pistol and 150 tickets for the rifle will be sold; tickets are available at Main Street Jewelry and Pawn, 118 Main Street in Lincolnton (beside B and J Appliance); get one before they are gone!

Oktoberfest at Newberry

Annual Oktoberfest will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. This program is sponsored by the youth ministry. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Assessors meeting

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors will meet on the following dates in the conference room of the courthouse at 6:30 p.m.: Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16.

Attic sale Oct. 4

An attic sale will be held Sat., Oct. 4, at the American Legions Post 194. The cost to reserve a table is $5. The snack bar will be open selling breakfast pastries and lunch items. Setup time is from 7 - 9 a.m. To reserve your table contact Gaye Foskey at 706-401-3191. The sale is open to the public.

LCHS ABC to meet

Lincoln County High School Academic Booster Club, a parent organization that encourages all students to accomplish their best academically, will meet in the LCHS Guidance Conference Room Tues., Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.

ABC is planning a Spaghetti Dinner (carry outs only) Oct. 31. Final plans for the spaghetti dinner and for the current membership campaign will be discussed at the meeting. Womens conference

Woman of Excellence at Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have their Annual Women Conference Oct. 2-4. Services begin Thurs., and Fri. at 7:30 p.m. and Sat. morning at 10 a.m. Speakers will be Thurs. - co-pastor, Kathy Jones of Freedom Ministries, Lincolnton; Fri. - Pastor Kimberley Leverett of Pauline FBH Church, Washington; and Sat. - Pastor Mary Grier of Crawfordville House of God, Crawfordville. Family, friends day

First Baptist Church invites everyone to help them celebrate Family & Friends Day Sun., Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. Rev. Patrick Outler of Augusta, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Friends day Sun.

Martin’s Crossroads C.H. Church invites the public to join them on Friends Day Sun., Oct. 5. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. with worship service at 10:45. Children’s church and a nursery will be provided. Pastor James James will deliver the message, and lunch and fellowship will follow.

Blessing ceremony

A Blessing of the Animals Ceremony will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, 214 E. Robert Toombs Ave., Washington, on Sat., Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. People are invited to bring their horses, dogs (on leashes please), cats, rabbits, birds, etc. to receive a blessing. All manner of treats and water will be supplied.

Games broadcasted

The Lincoln County Football games will broadcast live on WLCZ 98.7 FM, streaming live over the Internet on the Lincoln County GA Government website and on the local community cable TV.

Doug Newman will be back for his 30th broadcast season with Leighton Taylor and Benton Belangia providing color and stats and Timmy Brady will be the LCBN/LCTV cameraman.

Meeting schedule

City of Lincolnton 2014 Planning & Zoning Board meeting schedule: Oct. 28, Nov. 25, Dec. 30. All meetings will be held at City Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month.

Food pantry needs donations

The Lincoln County Food Pantry, which serves the entire Lincoln County Community, is in need of financial assistance to help offset the cost of a major project. Shingles vaccine avail.

The Lincoln County Health Department has a limited supply of shingles vaccine for ages 60-64 who are uninsured. There will be a minimal fee of $21.93 for those that qualify for the vaccine. Please call 706-359-3154 for more details.

Deacon, Trustee anniversary

Price’s Grove Baptist Church will have its Annual Deacon and Trustee Anniversary Sun., Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. The speaker will be Pastor Joseph Hurley. The public is invited.

Augusta Christian Singles host a dance every Saturday at the Ballroom Dance Center, 525 Grand Slam Dr., Evans, Ga. Admission is $10 guests, $8 members. Dance lessons for salsa, line dance, etc., is held from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.; dance is 7:30 - 10:30.

Feeding the hungry

Little Blessings Missions are asking hunters to help feed local families. As families are typically able to access non perishable items through food banks, meat is still needed. If you would like to donate as much or as little of meat from your hunt please contact Donya Gamache at 706-830-8410, Larry Walton at 401- 8085, Frog’s at 541-9817 or Billy Joe Paradise at 401-9721.

If you would like to make a money donation you may drop it by Farmers State Bank.

Towels for Tails

Donations of towels, sheets, or blankets are needed for WW Animal Shelter. Donations can be dropped off at Wilkes Co. Vet Services, Lincoln Co. Vet Services, Lincoln Animal Hospital or the shelter.

Wing cook-off

Lincoln County Elementary School PTO will be hosting their annual “Fall Festival” on Sat., Oct. 25, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., at the Lincoln County Recreation Department soccer field. They are currently seeking craft vendors. Vendor fees are $25 and $35 w/electrical hookup. The space is an 8x8 space and vendors are responsible for their own tent and/or tables. ` All fans of the Lincoln County Red Devil Football Team are asked to donate water or Gatorade for the team. The goal is to provide a case of water and Gatorade to the team for each game.

American Legion Post 194 is continuing its Veterans Memorial Brick sale. Anyone wanting to honor a family member or loved one who is active duty now or has served in the past, this is fitting tribute to them and their service. Contact Nelson Noble at 706-764-6506 for more information.

Grand Harvest

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church, 2245 Augusta Hwy., Lincolnton will celebrate its annual Grand Harvest on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 3:00 p.m.

The speaker for this special occasion will be Rev. Charles E. Lacey, pastor of Mt. Neebo Baptist Church of Washington and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hephzibah. The public is invited to come and worship with us. Rev. Ian Spencer is pastor.

Chicken plate sale

The ladies of Parks Grove will have a barbecue chicken plate sale Fri., Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. until, at the B&G Car Wash. Plates will cost $8 each.

Executive meeting

The Lincoln County Food Pantry Executive Committee will meet at the Lincoln County Public Library on Thurs., Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.

Homecoming service

Rehoboth Baptist Church will have homecoming services Sun., Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. A barbecue lunch will follow. Revival will be held Mon., Oct. 6 - Wed., Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. nightly. Evangelist Donnie Walton will be guest evangelist. Everyone is invited.

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets at 7 p.m. every first Monday in each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. In order to stay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens.

You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by contributing ($2.00) monthly. We look forward to hearing from you.
