Lions Club meeting

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Grand Harvest celebration

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. located at 2245 Augusta Hwy. will have its Grand Harvest celebration at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.

Zumba classes

The Y is offering Zumba classes at Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:45 p.m. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Zumba Fitness® is the only Latin-inspired dancefitness program that blends red-hot international music and contagious steps to form a “fitness-party” that is downright addictive. Financial assistance available.

Bible study will be held at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church every first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Concert at Loco

The Kingsmen Quartet will be in concert at Loco Baptist Church Sun., Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. A love offering will be taken. Loco is located at 1624 Loco Church Rd.

Barbecue plate sale

The Lincoln County Band Boosters will be selling tickets for barbecue plates for $8 each now through Nov. 1. Plates can be picked up at the Clubhouse on Nov. 8 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. No plates can be sold at the Clubhouse. Please see any band student or band booster member to buy a ticket. Thanks for your support.

Musical program

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Nov. 2 at 5 p.m. There will be a lot of good singing. Admission is free.

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner Mc- Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church is now having Substance Abuse Classes every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. These classes are open to men and women. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets every first Monday in each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. In order to stay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens.

You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by contributing ($2.00) monthly. We look forward to hearing from you.

Mobile mammography

The Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Oct. 31, 2013. The unit accepts most types of insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

Active Older Adult Class

The Y is offering Active Older Adult Classes at the Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland- York Road, Lincolnton, on Mondays & Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Active Older Adult classes maintain health and functional ability for adults 55 and over. Financial assistance available.

FFA fruit sale

The Lincolnton FFA Chapter is currently offering fresh Florida Indian River citrus for sale. Fruit offered are navel oranges, tangelos, juice oranges, and red grapefruit. Loco Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival Sat., Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. Come out and fellowship with us.

CCLC to meet

The CCLC would like to extend an invitation to all Lincoln County residents to attend our next meeting Nov. 21. This will be a very informative meeting with the Director of our Lincoln County Library, Shirley Dawkins. Mrs. Dawkins will be informing us of programs that are offered by our Library. Please come and join us for this very informative meeting. Everyone is always welcome to come and join in the discussion. We want to help make Lincoln County a better place to live.

Everyone is encouraged to remember the food pantry at this time of the year especially.

Ordination service

Rev. Ray C. Lewis and Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220 W, Lincolnton, will have a Deacon Ordination Service for Trustee Donnie Reid Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. Rev. Jesse Johnson and Rehoboth Baptist Church, Appling, will be the special guests. Everyone is invited.

Basketball tourney

The LCHS Chapter will host an Intramural Basketball Tournament on Sat., Nov. 2, 4 p.m. in the high school’s gymnasium. The theme for the game is “Make a Slam Dunk Against Drugs!” Admission is $2, Gold Card students $1. The overall theme for the week is “Smart Choices, Smart You! Before you do it, Think Through It!”

Hallelujah Night

Homecoming Nov. 3

New Hope Baptist Church, 5350 Ga. Hwy 220 E, will celebrate Homecoming Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served after the service.

Revival services will be held Nov. 4 - 6 at 7 p.m. nightly. The public is invited to attend.

Church anniversary

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. Rev. Raymond Adams and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Greenwood, S.C. will be in charge of the service. Sunday school will begin at 10:30 a.m. and worship service at 11:45 on this day. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Society to meet

The Lincoln County Historical Society will meet at noon on Wednesday November 6th. Join us for our traditional pot luck luncheon followed by our business meeting.

The agenda will include preparations for Pioneer Day, which will be held on November 23rd. There will be a Board of Directors’ meeting Monday, November 4th at 7 pm at the May House and the next History in the Park talk will be Thursday November 7th at 7 pm; David Donehoo and friends will play Old Time Mountain Music and teach us about its roots both in Appalachia and across the Atlantic.

Flu vaccine avail.

The Lincoln County Health Dept. has flu vaccine available. The cost is $25 for regular flu shot; $35 for flu mist (ages 2-49); and $45 for the high dose (ages 65 and up). The vaccine can be billed to Medicare Part B, Medicaid, PeachCare, State United Health Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or Cigna.

Brick sale

American Legion Post 194 is continuing its Veterans Memorial Brick sale. Anyone wanting to honor a family member or loved one who is active duty now or has served in the past, this is fitting tribute to them and their service. Contact Nelson Noble at 706-764-6506 for more information.

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate their Sunday school anniversary Sun., Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. Sunday school will not be held this day. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Barbecue plate sale

The Men’s Fellowship of Faith Community Church will be having a Barbecue/Hash plate fundraiser Sat., Nov. 9. Plates can be picked up from11-1 at the church dining hall. Tickets may be purchased from any church member for $7. Plates may also be bought on the day of the event. All proceeds will go to the Men’s Outreach Ministry.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer International will meet Tuesday mornings at 8:15 a.m. in the Lincolnton Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Veterans to be honored

Veterans will be honored at Ebenezer Baptist Church during worship service Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m. All veterans are invited as well as the public. Minister Daphane Kinlow will be guest speaker. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

LCBTA meetings

The following dates are the regular scheduled meeting of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings will be held in the conference room of the Lincoln County Courthouse at 6 p.m. Any changes in dates and times will be posted on the bulletin board of the courthouse, the website and the front door of the tax assessors office.

The dates are Nov. 19, Dec. 17.

Church anniversary

New Ford Baptist Church will celebrate the 13th anniversary of Rev. James White's tenure as church Senior Pastor at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Rev. Joe Williams of Augusta will be the Preacher of the Hour. His Augusta and South Carolina congregations will be our guests. The community is invited to attend. Dinner will be served in the Fellowship Hall following worship service.

Toastmaster club meeting

The W-W Toastmasters Club will have its regular meeting on Nov. 4 and 18 at Mary Willis Library in Washington. Members of the Wilkes, Lincoln, and McDuffie communities who are age 18 and above and desire to improve their public speaking and leadership skills are invited to attend.

Church cleanup

New Ford Baptist Church will have its annual church property cleanup from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Members and friends of New Ford are asked to come with your weed eaters, rakes, wheel barrells, and chain saws to assist with cemetery and outside cleanup. Ladies will assist with interior cleaning and "greening of the santuary" for Christmas. Lunch will be served.

Trunk or Treat

First Assembly will host Trunk or Treat Thurs., Oct. 31st from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on the field behind the Family Life Center. Many trunks will be lined up and filled with candy, boiled peanuts, pop-corn and other treats for participants to enjoy. Make us one of your stops in town during your trick or treat adventure!

Homecoming will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, Lincolnton, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. Famous dinner served after the service. Revival services will be held Nov. 4 - 6 at 7 p.m. nightly.

Homecoming service

The DJQ will host a harvest drive at First Baptist Church Nov. 9 at 7:30 a.m. All items will be free: men, women and children’s clothing and toys. Everyone is welcome.

Missionary program

Mt. Zion Baptist Church’s Ladies in White Missionary Program will be held Nov. 10 (second Sunday) at 2 p.m. The speaker will be Evangelist Daphanie Kinlow, co-pastor of Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries in Lincolnton. Everyone is invited.
