Lincolnton man dies in accident on Aycock-Norman Rd.

A Lincolnton man died in a onecar accident that occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Monday, October 29.

Lindsey Norman, 57, was traveling south on Aycock-Norman Road in his 2000 Volkswagen Convertible when for no apparent reason, he veered onto the west shoulder of the roadway while trying to negotiate a curve.

According to a report issued by the Georgia State Patrol, the driver overcorrected and traveled back onto the roadway. The vehicle rotated clockwise and yawed 80 feet before leaving the roadway again.

The Volkswagen continued across the grass, and the driver was ejected as the vehicle overturned. The car came to rest upside down facing north on the south shoulder of Aycock Farm Road.

Norman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m. by Kevin Beggs, deputy coroner for Lincoln County. The cause of death was massive blunt force trauma.
