Lions Club meeting

The Lincolnton Lions Club meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at The Lincoln County Library. Call Jim Butler at 706-359- 4114 or Sharon Bryan at 706-359- 1258for more information.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Bible study

You are invited to a Community Bible Study each Thursday Night at Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W.

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Donations needed

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Please consider making a pledge of $2 - $5 per month or any other amount will be greaatly appreciated. Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner Mc- Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Kardio Kidz

The YMCA is offering a Kardio Kidz class at Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road, Lincolnton, on Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m.

Youth ages 5 – 12 years enjoy a high-energy play-inspired group fitness class that incorporates cardio as well as strength building exercises. Cost is $35 for 8 classes that expire in 3 months. Financial assistance available.

Pastor anniversary

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church will celebrate Pastor Tonita Cody’s 14th anniversary on Sun., Nov. 18, 3 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. Pastor Kimberly Leverett of Washington, Ga., will be special guest. Everyone is invited.

LCMS Council meeting

The Lincoln County Middle School Council will meet Nov. 8, 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Active adult class

The YMCA is offering Active Older Adult Classes at the Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road, Lincolnton, on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Cost is $35 for 8 classes that expire in 3 months. Active Older Adult classes maintain health and functional ability for adults 55 and over. Financial assistance available.

Choir anniversary

First Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its anniversary Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. All area choirs are invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Hearst family meeting

There will be a Hearst family meeting Nov. 11, 4 p.m. at the Lincolnton Library.

Bible study

Bible study will be held at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church every first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Family, friends service

White Rock Baptist Church will host its annual Family and Friends Worship Service Sun., Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Curtis Raines and New Pilgrim Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Macon, Ga., will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served and the public is invited to come out and share in the fellowship.

Evening of fellowship

The community is invited to attend an “Evening of Fellowship” Sun., Dec. 2, 3 p.m. at True Fellowship Pentecostal Church. Guest speaker will be Beverly Ware of Lincolnton.

FFA fruit sale

The Lincolnton FFA Chapter is currently offering fresh Florida Indian River citrus for sale. Deadline to order is Nov. 14. Pick up will be week of Dec. 3. Contact any FFA member or Dennis Gay at 706-359- 3121 to order.

Missionary program

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will have its Missionary Program Sun., Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Pastor Clarence Hill of Mt. Transfusion Baptist Church, N. Augusta, will be in charge of the service. Dinner will be served. The public is invited to attend.

PTP meeting Nov. 8

Lincoln County Middle School will host a Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP) meeting Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. All parents are welcome to attend.

Crafters wanted

Hometown crafters or demonstrators are needed for Pioneer Day which will be held Nov. 17. Everything must be handmade and made by crafting skills from 100 to 150 years ago. For more information contact Vicky Dawkins at 706-359- 1442.

Commission meetings

The Planning Commission meetings for the remainder of 2012 will be held at 5:30 p.m. in our conference room of the Planning & Zoning Dept. on the following dates: Nov. 5 and Dec. 10.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Nov. 8 at Mary Willis Library, Washington, Ga. All retired educators are invited to attend.

Elections meeting

The scheduled Board of Elections and Voter Registration meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. All meetings are subject to change.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet at 6:30 on Nov. 16 at the Lincoln County Library. Guest speaker will be from the Lincoln County Food Bank. We will also have a report on the General Election results and on the meeting with the U.S. Corps of Engineers about the lake.

This will be a very informative meeting and everyone is invited to come out and take part in the discussion.

Fall re-testing

The fall retesting for the Graduation Test will be held according to the following schedule: Mon., Nov. 12 – math; Tues., Nov. 13 – language arts; Wed., Nov. 14 – science; Thurs., Nov. 15 – social studies.

All tests will begin promptly at 8:15 each morning. Students and others who have not passed all parts of the graduation test are urged to participate in the testing.

Arts and crafts fair

Mark your calendar now and plan to stop in for a day of fun at the next Savannah Lakes Village Arts and Crafts Fair, Sat., Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Activity Center, Route 378 and Highway 7. A large variety of fine quality hand crafted items will be offered for your shopping pleasure. Admission is free. Cash and personal checks only.

Legislative breakfast

Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and the LCHS Y Club invite you to attend the annual Breakfast with Our Legislators on Thurs., Nov. 29 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. at The Lincoln Center. Contest judging

The Pine Needle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the Lincoln County Library. We will be judging the Smokey Bear and Woodsey Owl contest posters from Ms. Frankie Porter’s art class students. Linda McKinney and Kristi Williamson will furnish refreshments and as usual, we will have a drawing for door prizes. Visitors are welcome.

TIA, NAACP to meet

The Twilight Improvement Association and NAACP will meet Mon., Nov. 12, 7:30 p.m. at the library.

Flu shots available

The Lincoln County Health Department will begin administering influenza vaccine on September 11, 2012, every Monday-Friday, 8: 00 – 4:00 PM. The charges are $35.00 for flu mist and $25.00 for injectable flu vaccine. These charges can be billed to Medicaid, Medicare Part B and any supplemental insurance (a copy of card is required), United Health Care State, Cigna State, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield and UHC Medicare Direct. Body toning class

Ebenezer Baptist Church will have its Annual Veterans Day Program Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. All veterans are invited. A special program has been planned. Rev. Perriman is pastor.

Pastors anniversary

Harmony Baptist Church will be celebrating its Ninth Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor Freddie Neal, Sr. and Sis. Kathy Neal on Sun., Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. Rev. Tommy China of Round Tree Chapel in Twin City, Ga. will be our guest preacher. All are invited and welcomed to come .

Classes ending

In lieu of the upcoming holiday season, Zumba, Swingin’ Seniors and Chair Aerobics classes will be cancelled November 19 - January 4. Active Older Adults, Body Toning, and Kardio Kidz will continue until December 21. All group exercise classes will resume January 7, 2013. Salute to Vets

The Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 597 will host a “Salute to Vets” dance, honoring our veterans for their service to our country on Sat., Nov. 10, beginning at 9 p.m. The music will be provided by radio personality and D. J., “The Mighty Peanut”

All veterans with proof of service will be admitted free. An admission fee will be charged for all others. The attire is dressy casual. Everyone is asked to adhere to the dress code. Proper dress and proper identification are required. Light refreshments will be served.
