Charles Roger Walker
Mr. Charles Roger Walker, 69, of Washington, Ga., entered into rest July 6, 2012.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 9 at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Ficklen Guin and Roy Cates officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites administered by members of the LaFayette Masonic Lodge.
A native of Washington, he was the son of the late Charlie Pratt and Mary Frances Guin Walker. Mr. Walker retired from F&M Bank after forty years of service but continued to serve on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the board of deacons and as treasurer for twentyseven years. He was a member of the Washington Rotary Club, the Washington LaFayette Masonic Lodge, The Washington Historical Society, The Washington Little Theatere, the Civil War Roundtable, The Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and was a past member of the Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Washington- Wilkes Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife of over forty-nine years, Vivian Ware Walker; son and daughterin law, Mark and Cynthia Walker of Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Billy Caddell of Washington and Amy and Shane Moore of Washington; brother, Randy Walker and wife, Patti of Sun City, Calif.; motherin law, Rose Ware of Washington; grandchildren, Ford Walker, Wilkes Walker, Olivia Lyons, Jackson Lyons, Dixon Caddell, Lindsey Moore and Walker Moore; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mike Lindsey, Roddie Guin, Bob Guin, Keith Ware, Barrett Ware and Bruce Ware served as pallbearers. The deacons of the church served as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fishing Creek Baptist Church or to the Wills Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Hopkins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
