The scheduled Board of Elections and Voter Registration meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. All meetings are subject to change.

Cookbook avail.
A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Friday night bingo
Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.
Masons to meet
The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, deli- cious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Class reunion

Bricks for veterans
Bricks for Veterans are still available to honor a veteran or an active duty service member. Bricks will be placed at the American Legion Post 194 Flagpole Memorial. Bricks measure 4”x8” and cost $25 per brick. Engraving includes name, military service and conflict era.

Strength Interval Classes offered at The Family Y’s Camp Lakeside, 1238 Dogwood Drive, Lincolnton, on Monday & Wednesday 5:30 – 6:30 PM and at Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1962 Rowland- York Drive, on Tuesday & Thursdays 12:30 – 1 PM. Cost is $30 for 8 classes. The goal of interval strength training routines is not to lift a heavy weight and gain massive muscles. Strength Interval Classes hit each muscle group using a different strength training method.

Fishing tips
FLW tour professional fisherman, Glenn Chappelear will be at Lincoln County Recreation Dept. Mon., March 19 at 6:30 p.m. He will share fishing tips and give a demonstration. There will be free food, door prizes, and a special grand prize. Everyone is invited to join us for an evening of fun.
LCRP Mass meetings
The Lincoln County Republican Party Precinct Mass Meetings will convene at the library at 9:00 am on March 10, 2012, The County Convention will convene at 10:00 at the same location. The sole purpose of both meetings is to select potential delegates to the Republican National Convention in Tampa next August. Further details can be found in the February 9, 2012 issue of the Lincoln Journal.
FOL to meet
The Friends of the Library will meet Thurs., Feb. 23, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Genealogy Room in the Lincoln County Library. On the agenda will be the installation of new officers and continued discussion of the 2013 calendar.

Black history prog.
First Baptist Church will have its Black History Program Feb. 26 beginning at 11:30 a.m. A very unique program has been planned. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.
Play in Elberton
A Few Good Men will be performed at the Elbert Theatre the weekends of March 9 - 11 and March 16-18. Pre-K registration
Lincoln County Pre-K registration will take place Wed., March 14, 8 a.m. at the Lincoln County Board of Education office for children of Lincoln County who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1. Bring a birth certificate, two proofs of residency (utility bill and lease agreement or such). Enrollment is available on first come, first enrolled basis and is limited. Kindergarten reg.
LCES Kindergarten registration will take place Wed., March 7, 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. for children five years old on or before Sept. 1. The following requirements must be met: enrolled by a parent or guardian, birth certificate, health certificate, immunization certificate, social security card, two proofs of residency.
Children who already attend the four-year-old pre-school do not have to register. They will need to follow up on the three certificate requirements by Aug. 2012.
Ash Wed. service
St. Paul United Methodist Church will host a Ash Wednesday service Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited.

Derby March 2
The Royal Ranger’s Outpost 106 will conduct its annual Pinewood Derby race on Fri., March 2, in the Family Life Center at First Assembly of God on Thomson Highway. The race is open to all boys in the county between the ages of 5 and 14 with three categories by grade: K-2, 3-5, 6-8. There will also be a category that includes all girls and boys ages 3-4.
A breakfast will be held at 6 p.m. for the racer and an adult with the racing beginning as soon as dinner is completed. There is no cost to enter but you must pre-register by Feb. 26. Forms may be picked up and dropped off at the Hobby Corner or the church office.
Jail photos wanted
The Lincoln County Library is looking for old photographs of the old jail that was located between Crawford and Breazeale Drugs and the home of Gerald and Holly Lawson and of Goshen School that was located on the corner of Prater Rd. and Drinkard Rd. All photos will be scanned and returned to you. Please call the library at 706-359-4014 if you can help.

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce requests the help of its citizens by fowarding any photos (digital, camera ready, etc) to the chamber for use in promoting our county.
Photos can be of wildlife, recreation, architecture, events, etc. All photos should be pertaining to Lincolnton/ Lincoln County only.
