W.C. Rhodes


W. C. “CECIL” RHODES W. C. “CECIL” RHODES Mr. W. C. “Cecil” Rhodes, 84, of Tignall, Ga., entered into rest Saturday, January 21, 2011 at VA Medical Center, Augusta.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Griffith officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites, followed in the church cemetery .

Mr. Rhodes, son of the late John W. and Eula Walker Rhodes, was born in Lincoln County. He was a 1946 graduate of Tignall High School and served in the US Army 7th Calvary during World War II. Afterwards, he served in the US Army reserves during the Korean Conflict. He had been a member for over 60 years of both the Carpenters and Joiners Local 283 and the Hiram F&AM Lodge #51 for 60 years. He had also been a member of Beulah Baptist Church since 1939.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Ellender R. Brown, J.D. Rhodes, Claude E. Rhodes, and Pressley Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife, Flossie Spence Rhodes; daughters, Ann Rhodes Raborn and husband, Steve of Hephzibah, Ga., Jean Rhodes Hilliard and husband, Reggie of Dearing, Ga., Teeny Rhodes Hussey and husband, Cecil of Bennett, N.C., and Sara Sue Rhodes Hudson of Tignall, Ga.; brother, Robert L. “Bobby” Rhodes of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rhodes’ nephews served as pallbearers.
