Doris Reed Holloway
DORIS REED HOLLOWAY Mrs. Doris Reed Holloway, loving wife of the late Ellis Watson Holloway, entered into the presence of her Savior on Sunday, January 22, 2012, at the home of her daughter in Augusta with her family at her bedside.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Moon and Rev. Wes Gardner officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Holloway was born on January 20, 1925 in Lincolnton, Ga. to the late Luther and Lettie Reed. She was a faithful member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. After retirement as a seamstress, Mrs. Holloway began a new career- baking the best cakes this side of Heaven. Perhaps her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. “Ma Holloway” knew exactly how to love each one of them.
Two brothers, Roger Reid and James Allen Reed, preceded Mrs. Holloway in death.
Survivors include son and daughter in-law, Tommy and Jean Holloway of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Buddy Gardner of Augusta; brother and sister-in-law, Olin and Beth Reed of Lincolnton; sister-in-law, Mamie Neal Reed of Lincolnton; grandchildren: Wes Gardner and wife, Lynn of Appling, Eva Gardner of Augusta, Dori Gardner of New York City, Fran Cooper and husband, Jason of Birmingham; great-grandchildren: Thomas, Ben and Karis Gardner of Appling, Hannah and Ellis Cooper of Birmingham, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Jeff Denton, William Denton, Ben Gardner, Thomas Gardner, Brandon Reed, Donald Reed, Hawes Reed, Neal Reed, and Thomas Reed .
