Al Candler
AL CANDLER Mr. Al Candler, 86, husband of 64 years to Mrs. Margie Holloway Candler, of Augusta, Ga., entered into rest Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Revs. Charles Broome and Gerald Varner officiating. Burial followed in Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick, S.C.
Mr. Candler was a member at St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a former French Bible Class teacher. He was a member and officer of the Augusta China Painters. Mr. Candler was on the Board of Directors of the Augusta Seaboard Federal Credit Union, a member of the VFW (Milledge Rd.), and a member of Young at Heart Choir at St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Family members in addition to his wife include a daughter, Lynn Powell (Lee) of Augusta; a son, Bert Candler of Augusta; a grandson, Bobby Lide (Traci); great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Ian; a brother, Walter L. Candler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were the French Bible Class.
