THE Y IN YOU
In this new year, change the way you think about your body. I believe the Lord gave me a revelation about my body many years ago as I searched for answers to my son’s new diagnosis. The Bible says in Psalms 139:14, “We are fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
I was fearfully made! Does that mean God was afraid when he made me? No! Our bodies are magnificent machines created with precise placement and tedious craftsmanship. We were designed to perfection by God. He considered every detail carefully! Doctors and scientists have all tried and failed to understand our bodies completely. Why? No human can understand the complexity of God’s creation because his thoughts and plans are far above our comprehension.
God takes pride in his work. Upon completion of his creation in Genesis, God saw what he made and said it was ‘VERY good.’ The Bible also tells us “every good and perfect gift is from above.” (James 1:17) Imagine someone you love hand crafting a gift for you. Imagine the delight in the eyes of the giver as he carefully positions the last piece. Perfection! Now, imagine the heartbreak of the gift giver when you express your dislike of the gift and toss it away.
Yet, we do this every day when we look in the mirror and think, “I do not like my body.” We have tossed our bodies to the side in waste as we shovel foods in our mouths that do damage to our bodies and leave it in a state of inactivity. We are sending a very strong message to our creator, “We dislike what you have given us!”
I challenge you in 2012 to RETHINK how you think about your body. For more information about YMCA programs that can help you catch the Body Revelation, contact Brandie Reese at 706-359-2153.
