Lions Club meeting

Fall festival

Fall Festival for Families at First Assembly of God Saturday, October 22, 4: 30- 6: 30 p. m. The Royal Express Train will make its way around the soccer field and inflatables will also be included. BB Gun Shooting Range, Cake Walks, Face Painting, Pizza, Nachos, Boiled Peanuts and More. Everything is free if participants get an armband at the registration area. A Dunking Booth will be open to raise money for World Wide Missions, Speed the Light. Come join the fun!

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Board meeting

The scheduled Board of Elections and Voter Registration meeting will be held Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. All meetings are subject to change.

NA meetings

N.A. meetings are held at the Lincoln County Library from 6 - 7:30 p.m. every Friday. For more information, please call 706-359-5808.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Clothes for vets

If you have men’s or women’s clothes that you would like to donate to all of Georgia’s Veteran’s Homes, please get them to Nelson Noble. Or you can drop them off at the Master’s Closet on Peachtree Street in the old Jip’s Sit a Spell. Just mark your box “Veterans.”

We need to remember and honor our veterans who have made and continue to make America the greatest country on earth. The Master’s Closet is open on Fridays and Saturdays. The clothes will be shipped out on August 19. Our country is under siege now. Do everything you can to help our heroes.

Dial-A-Prayer line

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Zumba classes

Zumba classes are offered at Camp Lakeside, 1238 Dogwood Dr., Lincolnton, on Tues. and Thurs. at 7:45 p.m. for interested persons ages 13 and older. Cost is $10 per week for 2 classes or $30 per month for 8 classes. Child care is available on site.

Men’s Bible study

The Lincoln County Recreation Department is now registering teams for the fall/winter adult softall league.

Donations needed

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Pioneer Day is Nov. 19

Pioneer Day at the Lincoln County Historical Park is November 19 from 9 am to 3 pm. Mark this on your calendar for a fun-filled day of family entertainment, living history demonstrations, antique tractors and Southern cooking. Last year 3,500 people came to Lincolnton for a day of good clean family fun – and admission is free! You won’t want to miss it. Musical program

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Nov. 5 beginning at 6 p.m. The public is invited and admission is free. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Bricks for veterans

Bricks for Veterans are still available to honor a veteran or an active duty service member. Bricks will be placed at the American Legion Post 194 Flagpole Memorial. Bricks measure 4”x8” and cost $25 per brick. Engraving includes name, military service and conflict era. .

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Musical at Mulberry

The W.H. Rucker Sanctuary Choir and the Barbra S. Elam chorus at Mulberry CME Church will host its annual Family and Friends Day musical on Sun., Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Various groups from around the CSRA will be on hand. Please come out and help us celebrate.

Harmony Baptist Church will be celebrating the 8th Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor Freddie Neal, Sr. and Sis. Kathy Neal on Sun., Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. Rev. Homecoming, revival

New Hope Baptist Church will have their Homecoming Celebration “Famous Dinner on the Grounds” Nov. 6. Revival will be Nov. 7 - 9.

Dance at Post 597

American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 597 will present “Dance Down Memory Lane” for mature adults on Fri., Nov. 11 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ ‘Fran the Man’ from radio station 103.9 in Greensboro, Ga. He will be playing old school music, blasts from the past and special requests. An admission fee will be charged at the door. Identification is required.

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church CYF will have a program Oct. 30 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Octavia Lindsey of Holsey Memorial C.M.E. Church, Sparta, Ga. The public is invited.

FOL to meet

Friends of the Library will meet Thursday, October 27 at 4:30 a.m. in the Genealogy Room of the Lincoln County Library to hear a second reading of the revised constitution and review plans for the Christmas book sale.

LCHS to meet

The Lincoln County Historical Society’s November meeting will be held at 12 pm on November 2nd at the May House. The agenda will include discussion of final preparations for Pioneer Day; bring a covered dish and join us for a great lunch – guests are always welcome; new members are especially welcome.

Choir anniversary

The gospel choir of White Rock Baptist Church will celebrate its 52nd anniversary Sun., Oct. 23 at 3 p.m. Fifty-two years represent over half a century of singing praises unto our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Come celebrate with us. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr., is pastor.

Ride against cancer

‘Fall Friends’ Ride Against Cancer will be held Oct. 22. Registration will be 7:30 - 8:45 a.m. at A&D Cycles (at the old Chevrolet dealership in Elberton). Departure will be at 9 a.m. The route will be through seven counties. Cost is $20 per bike or per car, $5 per rider. Bubba burger lunch included. Then and Now Nov. 15

The LCHS Choral and Culinary Arts departments are presenting a program of “Broadway –Then and Now” on November 15th in the LCHS auditorium.

Advance ticket sales are with Nancy Hardeman at the high school for $10.00. The last day to purchase tickets is Monday, November 7. There will be no tickets sold at the door. The program will begin at 7pm

Flu vaccine at HD

The Lincoln County Health Department now has flu vaccine - $25; flu mist - $35; and high dose of flu vaccine - $45, available on Mon., Tues., and Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. This year the influenza vaccine protects against A/H1N1 (pandemic) influenza, influenza A/H2N2 and influenza B. Bring proof of insurance for Medicaid, Medicare, Peach Care and United Health Care SHBP. Cash or checks will be accepted.

CCLC to meet

The next meeting of the Concerned Citizens Of Lincoln County will be Oct. 20, 6:30, at the Lincoln County Library. This meeting is open to everyone and we welcome new members. Our guest speaker for this meeting will be our new Representative Tom McCall. Bring your questions and concerns and come and be part this important meeting.

The CCLC would like to remind everyone to keep the Lincoln County Food Pantry in your thoughts. The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items.
