Lions Club meeting

Donations needed

James Edmond has been paralyzed from the neck down for the last 16 years. He is in need of donations to have spinal cord treatment in Cologne Germany. AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Board meeting

The scheduled Board of Elections and Voter Registration meeting will be held Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. All meetings are subject to change.

NA meetings

N.A. meetings are held at the Lincoln County Library from 6 - 7:30 p.m. every Friday. For more information, please call 706-359-5808.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Clothes for vets

If you have men’s or women’s clothes that you would like to donate to all of Georgia’s Veteran’s Homes, please get them to Nelson Noble. Or you can drop them off at the Master’s Closet on Peachtree Street in the old Jip’s Sit a Spell. Just mark your box “Veterans.”

We need to remember and honor our veterans who have made and continue to make America the greatest country on earth. The Master’s Closet is open on Fridays and Saturdays. The clothes will be shipped out on August 19. Our country is under siege now. Do everything you can to help our heroes.

Dial-A-Prayer line

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Zumba classes

Zumba classes are offered at Camp Lakeside, 1238 Dogwood Dr., Lincolnton, on Tues. and Thurs. at 7:45 p.m. for interested persons ages 13 and older. Cost is $10 per week for 2 classes or $30 per month for 8 classes. Child care is available on site.

Men’s Bible study

Midway homecoming

Midway UMC will be celebrating 105 years with Homecoming on Sunday, September 25th. Services at 11 am with a covered dish ‘dinner on the grounds’ immediately following. Come join us for a day of fellowship and remembrance.

Vendors wanted

Lincoln County Elementary School PTO is currently seeking craft vendors for their Fall Festival planned for Sat., Oct. 8, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Cost is $25 for a booth, $35 w/electrical hookup. No food vendors. For more information contact Amberly Bentley at 706-318-6838.

Planning meeting

Might Tams Oct. 7

American Legion Post 194 will present a repeat performance of The Mighty Tams on Fri., Oct. 7, 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. Cost is $16 per person, tickets are now available. For ticket information call 706-359-3445 after 4 p.m.

Cookbook available

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner McGahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Distribution canceled

Angel Food Ministries will not be holding a food distribution for the month of September due to operational and financial challenges. Full refunds are now being processed for those who have already placed orders for Sept. They hope to resume distributing in the future. First Assembly will inform the public as soon as AFM resumes taking orders.

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Sing & Sip

Anthony Chapel is hosting a “Sing & Sip” Sat., Sept. 17 beginning at 7 p.m. Featured singers will be: James Wideman and Family, Glenda Gosnell, Bethany and Pine Grove combined choirs, Dot Scott, Wade Maxwell and Anthony Chapel Ensemble. Everyone is invited.

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its pastor’s seventh anniversary Sept. 18 at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Kids Fish Fest

Elijah Clark State Park’s 3rd Annual Kids Fish Fest will be held Sept. 24 from 2-5 p.m. There will be a hotdog lunch from 12-1 with fishing tips and games from 1-2. Bring your own equipment, prizes will be awarded. A $5 parkpass per vehicle will be charged.

New dues program

Ladies Bible study

First Assembly of God will begin a new ladies Bible study in Sept. “Jonah - Navigating a Life Interrupted” by Priscilla Shirer is a seven week study. Two class times will be offered, Mon., beginning Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. or Tues., beginning Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. All ladies are welcome. Family, friends day

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church, 2245 Augusta Hwy., will have its Annual Family and Friends Day Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. Rev. Dennis Quinn and the First Baptist Church family will be the guest. The public is invited. Rev. Ian Spencer is pastor.

Bricks for veterans

Bricks for Veterans are still available to honor a veteran or an active duty service member. Bricks will be placed at the American Legion Post 194 Flagpole Memorial. Bricks measure 4”x8” and cost $25 per brick. Engraving includes name, military service and conflict era. .

FOL to meet

The Friends of the Library will be meeting Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. in the Genealogy Room of the Lincoln County Library. Shela Bentley and Dusty Rhodes will be presenting a revised constitution for a first reading.

Bible study Wed.

White Rock Baptist Church invites the public to Bible study each Wednesday at 7 p.m. The title of the book being used in Bible study is The Mind of Christ by T.W. Hunt and Claude King. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr. is pastor.

Women’s weekend

The Family Y’s Camp Lakeside is hosting the second annual Women’s Adventure and Wellness Weekend Sept. 30 – Oct. 2. Women of all ages will have the opportunity to relax, recreate, and rejuvenate on the banks of Lake Thurmond and enjoy activities in the areas of adventure, exercise and wellness, relaxation, aquatics, and arts and crafts.
