Lions Club meeting

Donations needed

James Edmond has been paralyzed from the neck down for the last 16 years. He is in need of donations to have spinal cord treatment in Cologne Germany. AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Board meeting

The Board of Elections will meet on Wednesday, July 28 at the Board of Elections office at 5 p.m.

NA meetings

N.A. meetings are held at the Lincoln County Library from 6 - 7:30 p.m. every Friday. For more information, please call 706-359-5808.

Society meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society will not have a regular meeting in July because of the Fourth of July.

The Pioneer Day Lessons Learned and Planning meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 12 noon.. Those interested are encouraged to bring a sandwich and share good ideas. Mark your calendar, Pioneer Day is the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 19.

Reunion planning

Stewardess Day

Mulberry CME Church will be hosting its Annual Stewardess Day, Sun., June 26, 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Jesse Johnson and Rehoboth Baptist Church family as the guest. All are invited. Rev. George Glenn is Pastor.

VBS at LUMC

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will have Vacation Bible School beginning Sun., July 10 - 14 at 5:30-8:30 p.m. each evening. Supper will be served. The theme is “Hometown Nazareth, Where Jesus was a Kid.”

Camp registration

Summer Sports Camp will be held at Lincoln County Recreation Department June 20 - July 8, 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Discounted rate for early registration (before June 6). Call 706- 359-2236 for more information.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Zumba classes

Zumba classes are offered at Camp Lakeside, 1238 Dogwood Dr., Lincolnton, on Tues. and Thurs. at 7:45 p.m. for interested persons ages 13 and older. Cost is $10 per week for 2 classes or $30 per month for 8 classes. Child care is available on site.

Bible study

New Hope Baptist Church’s Women’s Bible study has started “He Speaks to Me” by Priscilla Shirer. Studies are held ever Monday at 11:00 am, and also Monday evening at 7:00pm. Light refreshments are served. Please contact Shannon Whitaker at 706-359-2732 for more information.

Gospel Alive show to be held June 25

The time has arrived for the long awaited “Gospel Alive” show which will be held Saturday, June 25 at The Lincoln Center at 6:00 p.m.

All tickets that have been previously purchased in April are still valid. Doors will open to the public at 6:00 p.m.

If you don’t have a ticket for the event, a $10.00 donation is needed in support of the annual Jennie L. Garnett Scholarship sponsored by Newberry Baptist Church.

Featured guests for the program will be the Wimberly Family of Miami, Fla. and soloist, Carolyn Harris of Thomson. Musical prelude will be rendered by Mr. Jimmy Tenet and Mr. Robert Reid.

Please come and support this worthy event which supports educational pursuits.

Basketball camp

Lincoln County High Youth Basketball Camp for boys and girls entering first through sixth grade will be held July 19-21 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the LCHS Gym. Cost is $45 and deadline to register is July 8. Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Class meeting

All members of Lincoln County High School Class of 1981 will have a meeting at 5 p.m. on Sun., July 10 at the Lincoln County Library Annex to discuss having a 30 year reunion sometime in the fall of this year. Please come and see if we can make this happen.

White Rock Baptist Church invites the public to Bible study each Wednesday at 7 p.m. The title of the book being used in Bible study is The Mind of Christ by T.W. Hunt and Claude King. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr. is pastor.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Plant your pumpkins

A fall festival is being planned for Saturday before Halloween. Events will include largest pumpkin contest, pumpkin pie eating contest, pumpkin carving and best recipe using pumpkins. The latest time to plant pumpkins is the end of July so get your pumpkins growing and enjoy fun in October. Watch the paper for more details.

VBS at Morningside

Morningside Baptist Church invites all children ages pre-k through sixth graders to join them for Club VBS: Beach Blast! Hat, tea luncheon

The Tabernacle Baptist Church Deaconess Board is sponsoring a Hat and Tea Luncheon June 25 in the fellowship hall from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. First Lady Marcia Henderson of Popular Spring Baptist Church, Dearing, Ga. is the keynote speaker for this occasion. Bricks for veterans

Bricks for Veterans are still available to honor a veteran or an active duty service member. Bricks will be placed at the American Legion Post 194 Flagpole Memorial. Bricks measure 4”x8” and cost $25 per brick. Engraving includes name, military service and conflict era. .

Hill fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to benefit Kenny Hill. Kenny and his family are facing major medical expenses as he has been diagnosed with cancer and has a long road of surgeries and treatment ahead. Kenny and Frankie would greatly appreciate your prayers and any donations you feel led to make.

Men’s Bible study

CCLC to meet

The next meeting of the Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 21 library in Lincolnton. We would like you to continue to support the Lincoln County Food Pantry by donating nonperishable food items. The CCLC is a nonpartisan organization.

The Sons and Daughters of Bethlehem Society Anniversary observance will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Thurs., June 23, 5:30 p.m. Ms. Shelby Turner, teacher at Lincoln County Elementary School, will be the speaker.
