Grace L. Lockhart

Grace L. Lockhart, 23, entered into rest Monday, July 5, 2010.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 9, at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, Lincolnton with Revs. Frankie Jones, Willie J. White and Dennis J. Quinn officiating.

Grace was born July 8, 1986 in Augusta, Ga. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined Newberry Missionary Baptist Church. She was a 2004 graduate of Lincoln County High School where she played basketball, softball, soccer and track. She attended Middle Georgia College on a basketball scholarship and was employed at Wendy’s in Augusta.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Allen Lockhart; her grandparents, Rose Blackmon and Willie and Fannie Ruth Lockhart; and uncle, Curtis Searles.

Survivors include her parents, Allen (Leila) Ramsey of the home; step-parents, Jerry (Vernitta) Moore of Clarks Hill, S.C.; three sisters, Crystal Moore of Lincolnton, Gabriella Moore of Clarks Hill, and Karla Ramsey of Tignall, Ga.; three brothers, Ellis Curry of Lincolnton, DeMarcus Moore of Clarks Hill, and Marcus Ramsey of Tignall; step-grandmother, Annie Parks of Lincolnton; four aunts, Patricia Mchaney of Abbeville, S.C., Allene Lockhart, Kathleen Lockhart, both of Lincolnton, and Catherine Lockhart of Savannah, Ga.; four uncles, Mack Lockhart of Washington, D.C., Eddie Holloway of Greenwood, S.C., Willie Blackmon of Augusta and Charles Lockhart of Lincolnton; a great-uncle, Ralph (Mary) Searles of Lincolnton; niece, Alayia Norman of Lincolnton; nephew, Marquez Ramsey; and a host of cousins and friends.

Pallbearers were Joshua Beard, Lance Booker, Chris Crite, Roncey Cummings, Courtney Duncan and Alex Mickens. Honorary pallbearers were LCHS Class of 2004. Flower ladies were Grace’s basketball teammates.

Wright & Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
