Evening worship

First Baptist Church will have evening worship May 30 beginning at 6 p.m. Rev. Gresham and Reeves Chapel Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Lions Club meeting

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet on June 17, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the library in Lincolnton.

The CCLC would like to remind everyone how important it is to get out to vote in the primary election on July 20, 2010. The primary election is very important to the citizens of Lincoln County because it determines who will run in the general election in November.

Every registered voter needs to get out and vote in the primary election, so they can have a voice in who their candidates for office will be.

Society meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society’s June meeting will be held at 12 pm on June 2nd at the May House. We’ll have the traditional covered dish luncheon so come and enjoy the food and fellowship! New members and guests are always welcome.

VBS at St. Paul

St. Paul United Methodist Church will hold Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, May 31 through Friday, June 4 with supper at 5:30 p.m.; registration at 5:45 p.m. and a Bible School program from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Program for ages Pre-K through middle school! All are welcome!!

Donations needed

James Edmond has been paralyzed from the neck down for the last 16 years. He is in need of donations to have spinal cord treatment in Cologne Germany. Fifth Sun. meeting

True Fellowship Church, 1876 Augusta Hwy., Lincolnton, will host the fifth Sunday Fellowship Meeting Sun., May 30 at 11:30 a.m. Speaker will be Elder Thomas Williams of Power House Church of God in Christ, Thomson, Ga. The public is invited. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Conference at FBC

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will sponsor “Conference 2010” on Saturday May 29, 2010 at the First Baptist Church.

Registration will begin at 9:00am and the workshop will begin promptly at 10:00am.

The speakers for this grand event will be Rev. Frederick D. Favors- Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia and Bishop Willie Jackson-Coordinator/Instructor at ITC, Atlanta, Georgia and instructor of Lahairil Bible College, Augusta, Georgia. Youth Speakers are Min. Daravious Cullars and Mr. Jeremy Latimore of Lincolnton, Georgia.

Fishing rodeo

A fishing rodeo will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Cox Farm for boys and girls up to age 16. Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The event begins at 9AM and ends at 12 noon with lunch. There is no charge. Prizes will be awarded.

LCHS prints available

Signed and matted pen-and-ink prints by Maree Sieger of the old high school building can be purchased by contacting Randy Smith at 706-359- 1291. All proceeds will go to the Musical Theatre class to help pay for the spring musical. The prints are $15.00 each. Great Christmas gifts for LCHS alumni!

Youth Camp at FCC

Faith Community Church is pleased to announce Youth Camp 2010 June 6 - 11. Guest speaker will be Pastor John Belangia of Gainesville, Ga. You are invited to experience a week of fun, fellowship, and a time of learning to overcome in The Real World. Pre-registration is encouraged. Embracing Eli Benefit

An Embracing Eli Benefit will be held Sat., June 26 at the American Legion Fairgrounds.

For the Poker Run, sign up 8 - 10 a.m. at the fairgrounds, cost is $20 per hand and includes chicken plate, contact Allen Austin at 706-339-1350 for information;

The Trail ride is $20 per rider and includes chicken plate, be at fairgrounds 8 - 10 a.m.; barbecue chicken plate ale tickets available at Farm Bureau, Farmers State Bank and Farmers & Merchants Bank, cost is $7 each and can be picked up between 1 a.m. - 1 p.m.; will also have an outdoor concert featuring Newtown Rhythm Band, DJ Jason Crook and more between 8 - 11 p.m., cost is $10, under 12 cost is $5.

Bingo at Post 194

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Celebration at Newberry

Jennie L. Garnett Inspirational Choir will sponsor the Annual Jennie L. Garnett celebration will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., June 12 at 4 p.m. The program will benefit the scholarship fund. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Pool opens June 1

The Lincoln County Rec Dept. pool will open Tuesday, June 1. Hours will be Tues. - Fri., 1-6 p.m.; Sat., 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Cost is $3 per person.

District banquet

The Annual 10th District Banquet for the General Missionary Baptist Convention will be held Fri., June 4 at Diamond Lake Recreational Center located on 101 Diamond Way, Hephzibah, Ga. Please see Mamie Garnett for ticket information.

Chicken barbecue plates will be on sale Sat., June at the City Fire Dept. Tickets are available at Goldman & Wengrow or any city fireman. Cost will be $6 per plate.
