Evening worship

First Baptist Church will have evening worship May 30 beginning at 6 p.m. Rev. Gresham and Reeves Chapel Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Lions Club meeting

Reunion meeting

The Class of 1990 reunion meeting will be held Sun., May 16, 5 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library Conference Room. All class members are encouraged to attend. Contact Courtney Hearst Leverette at 706-401- 8012.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold their monthly meeting Thurs., May 13, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting as election of officers for the 2010-2011 year will be voted on. Please remember to bring items for the food pantry.

Promotion ceremony

The 13th Annual Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held Tues., May 18, 7 p.m. in the LCHS/ LCMS Gymnasium. The program will feature addresses given by the students with the highest averages in the class and the presentation of academic achievement awards. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Men, women’s prog.

We welcome everyone to join us for our Men and Women’s Day Program, which will be held during our morning Worship Service on Sunday, May 16 at 11:00 am.

You are also welcome to join us for Sunday School which begins at 10:00 am.

Rev. Tasha Grier and Rocky Branch Baptist Church of Norwood, Ga., will be in charge of the service. We are looking forward to your presence, prayers and a spirit-filled fellowship as we lift up the name of Jesus. Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is our Pastor.

Donations needed

James Edmond has been paralyzed from the neck down for the last 16 years. He is in need of donations to have spinal cord treatment in Cologne Germany. CCLC to meet

The CCLC would like to encourage everyone to get out and vote in the general primary election on July 20, 2010.

The next CCLC meeting is scheduled for May 20, 2010 and the speaker is scheduled to be Casey Broom, Director of EMS for Lincoln County.

We want to encourage everyone to attend the CCLC meeting and bring any questions or concerns that you want answers to.

Fund set up

Friends of Mrs. Doris F. Blackburn has set up an account with Farmers State Bank to help her with some of her medical bills and expenses.

Donations may be dropped off at the bank or mailed to P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia 30817. Please make checks payable to the “Doris F. Blackburn Fund.”

DSG sessions

Wills Memorial Hospital is offering two Diabetic Support Group sessions on Wednesday, May 19, 2p-3p and 5p-6p in the Hospital Library. Anne Myers, RN, MSN, will facilitate the sessions. The focus of the discussion will be diet and food choices. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling 706-678-9296.

Conference at FBC

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will sponsor “Conference 2010” on Saturday May 29, 2010 at the First Baptist Church.

Registration will begin at 9:00am and the workshop will begin promptly at 10:00am.

The speakers for this grand event will be Rev. Frederick D. Favors- Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia and Bishop Willie Jackson-Coordinator/Instructor at ITC, Atlanta, Georgia and instructor of Lahairil Bible College, Augusta, Georgia. Youth Speakers are Min. Daravious Cullars and Mr. Jeremy Latimore of Lincolnton, Georgia.

Yearbooks for sale

The LCHS Panorama staff has extra yearbooks for sale. The cost is $70.00. Contact Randy Smith at 706- 359-3121 to purchase yours today. This is the last Pre-K - 12 yearbook, and it contains photos of present students as well as many photos from “back in the day.”

Fun Day May 15

Fun Day at Savannah Heights Living Center, McCormick, S.C., will be held Sat., May 15, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out for face painting, fishing for a cure game, bake sale, health screening, food, pony rides, relay races and more. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Fifth Sun. meeting

True Fellowship Church, 1876 Augusta Hwy., Lincolnton, will host the fifth Sunday Fellowship Meeting Sun., May 30 at 11:30 a.m. Speaker will be Elder Thomas Williams of Power House Church of God in Christ, Thomson, Ga. The public is invited. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Bingo at Post 194

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot. Bring a friend and enjoy the fun.

Farm Safety Camp

Wilkes/Lincoln County Farm Safety Camp 2010 will be held Thurs., May 27 at McGill-Woodruff Ag Center for kids ages 6 - 11. Check-in at 8:30 a.m., classes begin at 9 a.m. Cost is $5 each. Registration forms are available at Wilkes and Lincoln County Extension offices. Deadline to register is May 14.

VBS at Hephzibah

Hephzibah Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School Sun. - Wed., May 22-26 for ages 3 - 12. The Sunday session will be held 4:30 - 9 p.m.; Mon. - Wed. will be 6:30 - 9 p.m. The children will be served supper during VBS.

Choir in concert

Reeves Chapel Baptist Church Choir will be in concert at First Baptist Church May 30, 6 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Every Friday is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet 11 a.m., Thurs., May 13 at the Lincoln County Public Library. All retired educators are invited to attend.

Saint Luke Youth Ministry will host its Second Annual Mother/Daughter Banquet May 22 at 6 p.m. Guest speaker will be first lady Carla Hampton of Mt. Miroah Baptist Church, Warrenton, Ga. Church anniversary

The 137th anniversary of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will be observed Sun., May 16 at 2 p.m. Rev. Seymore Harrison, pastor of White Rock Baptist Church will be guest minister.

Lincoln County High School Council members will meet Tues., May 18, 7:30 a.m. in the LCHS Media Center.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln will have their next meeting on May 20, 2010 at the library in Lincolnton.

The speaker will be Casey Broom the director of the Lincoln County EMS.

We encourage you to attend this meeting to meet Mr. Broom. We would also like to remind you to donate any nonperishable foods the the loocal Food Pantry.
