Church anniversary

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220, will celebrate 141 years of worship May 9 at 2 p.m. Rev. Frank Lewis and Mt. Pleasant will be in charge of the service. Everyone is invited. Rev. Ray C. Lewis is pastor.

Evening worship

First Baptist Church will have evening worship May 31st beginning at 6 p.m. Rev. Gresham and Reeves Chapel Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Lions Club meeting

Spring book sale

Friends of the Library’s spring book sale will be Saturday, May 8, from 9:30 till 3:30. Books will be selling at rock-bottom prices. Come stock up for your spring and summer reading.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold their monthly meeting Thurs., May 13, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting as election of officers for the 2010-2011 year will be voted on. Please remember to bring items for the food pantry.

Promotion ceremony

The 13th Annual Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held Tues., May 18, 7 p.m. in the LCHS/ LCMS Gymnasium. The program will feature addresses given by the students with the highest averages in the class and the presentation of academic achievement awards. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Men, women’s prog.

We welcome everyone to join us for our Men and Women’s Day Program, which will be held during our morning Worship Service on Sunday, May 16 at 11:00 am.

You are also welcome to join us for Sunday School which begins at 10:00 am.

Rev. Tasha Grier and Rocky Branch Baptist Church of Norwood, Ga., will be in charge of the service. We are looking forward to your presence, prayers and a spirit-filled fellowship as we lift up the name of Jesus. Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is our Pastor.

Reunion meeting

Easter homecoming

The 2nd Annual Jeff & Sheri Easter Homecoming, Mother’s Day Weekend, May 7-8, 2010 will be held at the Lewis Family Home Place, 1935 Lewis Family Road.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the best in southern gospel music for this two day event. Jeff & Sheri will be performing both nights. Friday night, guest and Grammy award winning artist, Jason Crabb, will perform. Saturday, Ivan Parker and Karen Peck & New River will perform. Tickets are $15 for Friday and $20 for Saturday.

Cookbooks available

First Assembly of God has published a cookbook of local recipes that are on sale now at a cost of $12.00 each. All proceeds go to Speed the Light Missions. They can be purchased at the church office from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday thru Friday or call 706-359-7237. They are also available at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

James Edmond has been paralyzed from the neck down for the last 16 years. He is in need of donations to have spinal cord treatment in Cologne Germany. OES meeting

Yearbooks for sale

The LCHS Panorama staff has extra yearbooks for sale. The cost is $70.00. Contact Randy Smith at 706- 359-3121 to purchase yours today. This is the last Pre-K - 12 yearbook, and it contains photos of present students as well as many photos from “back in the day.”

Barbecue plate sale

First Baptist Church will have a fish or barbecue chicken plate sale Sat., May 8, 11 a.m. until, in the parking lot of Farmers and Merchants Bank. Plates cost $7 each. No early orders, just stop by on Saturday and pick up your plates.

Conference at FBC

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will sponsor “Conference 2010” on Saturday May 29, 2010 at the First Baptist Church.

Registration will begin at 9:00am and the workshop will begin promptly at 10:00am.

The speakers for this grand event will be Rev. Frederick D. Favors- Springfield Baptist Church, Thomson, Georgia and Bishop Willie Jackson- Coordinator/Instructor at ITC, Atlanta, Georgia and instructor of Lahairil Bible College, Augusta, Georgia. Youth Speakers are Min. Daravious Cullars and Mr. Jeremy Latimore of Lincolnton, Georgia.

CCLC to meet

The CCLC would like to encourage everyone to get out and vote in the general primary election on July 20, 2010.

The next CCLC meeting is scheduled for May 20, 2010 and the speaker is scheduled to be Casey Broom, Director of EMS for Lincoln County.

We want to encourage everyone to attend the CCLC meeting and bring any questions or concerns that you want answers to.

Band to perform

The American Legion Post 597 will present “The Party Time Band” Fri., May 7, 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. The band, along with vocalists, will play and sing music you grew up with. DJ “Vontrae” will provide music during intermission. Patrons 21 years old and above are welcome.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Bingo at Post 194

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot. Bring a friend and enjoy the fun.

Clark fund at FSB

A fund has been set up at Farmers State Bank to benefit Eli Clark.

Clark, 22, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and is scheduled to begin chemotherapy in the near future.

Donations may be dropped off at the bank or mailed to P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia 30817. Please make checks payable to the “Eli Clark Fund.”

Local residents are asked to pray for Clark and his family.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

New Work Baptist Church Brotherhood will sponsor a spaghetti supper May 8, 6 p.m. at the church. Cost of plates will be a donation.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln will have their next meeting on May 20, 2010 at the library in Lincolnton.

The speaker will be Casey Broom the director of the Lincoln County EMS.

We encourage you to attend this meeting to meet Mr. Broom. We would also like to remind you to donate any nonperishable foods the the loocal Food Pantry.

DSG sessions

Wills Memorial Hospital is offering two Diabetic Support Group sessions on Wednesday, May 19, 2p-3p and 5p-6p in the Hospital Library. Anne Myers, RN, MSN, will facilitate the sessions. The focus of the discussion will be diet and food choices. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling 706-678-9296.
