Elijah Clark State Park hosted a special program honoring Gen. Clark on Sunday, February 14. The
event was held in conjunction with activities commemorating the 231st anniversary of the Battle of Kettle
Creek in Wilkes County.
The observance at the park included remarks by Dr. Christine Swager, author and retired educator; wreath presentations; a musket salute; and the playing of Taps. Also, local genealogist Dianne Poteat and Charles Estes, who has portrayed Gen. Clark in the past, were recognized. Nelson Noble, former park manager, presided over the ceremony.
