The students launching their rocket are; Robert Dandron and Tyler Johnson. The students in Mrs. Jan Bruns sixth grade Earth Science class have been studying astronomy this nine weeks. They have learned about the phases of the moon, the stars and constellations, the planets in our solar system, and the history of the space program. As a culminating activity, the students built hydro-rockets out of coke bottles. They had to use their math skills to correctly place measure, cut, and correctly place the fins on their rockets. In addition, they became familiar with Newton’s Laws of Motion.
