Local mystery
Half of a cornerstone for Pharr’s Chapel was discovered recently at the Lincoln County Historical Park. The stone reads: “PHARR’S CHAPEL A M...1, 1918, LINCOLN COUNTY...CORNER STONE LAID T...NAMES. JOE MOSS, MAR...ANNER BLACKWELL. P... BELL AND REV. W.B....P.E. RT. REV. J.S. FL...BISHOP.” Research has shown that there was a Pharr’s Chapel (A.M.E.) and school in the upper end of Lincoln County. If anyone has any additional information about this historical artifact, please contact the Lincoln County Library at 706-359-4014.
