Choir anniversary

First Baptist Church Young Adult Choir will be celebrating iits 16th choir anniversary on Sunday, February 14 at 3 p.m. The pubic is invited.

Calendar fund-raiser

We are now selling a 2010 calendar to raise money for cancer patients in our area. The calendars are $12.00 each. You can pick up one from any officer or board member. Also, Darran has them at Ed Sive Tire & Battery in Elberton. Pictures from our events are on the page with each month.

Reunion meeting

Class members from Lincolnton Colored High School, Lincolnton Training School and Westside High School 1942 - 1970 will meet at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14 at the library. This will be our first planning meeting for our class reunion. Please plan to be in attendance.

Breakfast buffet

Faith Communtiy Church/Faith Temple will have its monthly breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 6.

Getting acquainted meeting

The Faith for Living Ministries will hold a getting acquainted meeting on Thursday, February 4, from 6-9 p.m. at The Lincoln Center.

The purpose of the outreach ministry is to prepare youth for the job market and instill in them the values needed to be an asset to the community.

Sing & Sip

Anthony Chapel will be hosting a “Sing & Sip” at 7 p.m., Saturday, February 27.

Featured talent includes: Bill Maxwell from Beaverdam Baptist; Trudy Ingram Matthews from Hephzibah Baptist, Karen Lewis Saggus from Tignall Baptist; Lincolnton U.M. Praise Bank, Lincolnton U.M. Church; Hilda Cliatt, from Salem Baptist and the Anthony Chapel Ensemble..

This promises to be an evening of gospel music you’ll remember always.

Mouth watering treats will follow the perofrmance. Everyone is invited.

Third anniversary

The Deacons and Trustees of Ebenezer Baptist Church invites the public to its third anniversary celebration at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 14. Rev. Melvin Adams and New Holt Baptist church will be the guests. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastosr.

Sweetheart Ball

The Ladies Auxiliary of Thomas- Lane American Legion, Post 597 will sponsor a Sweetheart Ball on Saturday, February 13 at the post located on Thomas-Lane Post Road in Lincolnton.

The attire is semi-formal.This special event will begin at 8 p.m. and light refreshments will be served. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the ladies auxiliary. For additional information call Mary Leverett, president at 706-359-2238 or Glenda Norman at 706-359-4765.

SAL to meet

The Sons of the American Legion Post 194 will meet at 7:00 p.m., on February 9 at the post home. All member are urged to attend, need your dues if not paid and plans for another turkey shoot. Please attend.

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday’s menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Council meeting

The LCES School Council meeting will be held at 7:30 a.m.on February 9, 2010.

Pastor’s anniversary

Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate the first pastoral anniversary of Rev. Ray C. Lewis at 2;00 p.m., Sunday, February 7.

Rev. Roscoe Perry, pastor of First Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Winfield, Ga. will be in charge of the service.

NAACP banquet

The Lincoln County NAACP Branch #5213 Banquet will be held at 7 p.m., February 27 at The Lincoln Center.

Diabetes workshop

A diabetes workshop will be held at the Sunday School Union which will convene at White Rock Baptist Church on Saturday evening, January 30.

The workshop will be presented by Mrs. Kathy Linebarger, family nurse practitioner and county nurse manager for the McDuffie county Health Department.

Kathy, who is originally from Tennessee, has lived in the Augusta area for several years. She is employed by the McDuffie Health Department for 14 years and serves as a volunteer with the McDuffie Diabetes Support Group, McDuffie Regional Hospital.

In addition, Mrs. Regenia Reid will present a workshop for the youth.

Everyone is invited.

Black History Gala

First Baptist Church will hold its Black History Gala celebration in honor of our first black mayor, Henry Brown at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21.

Mayor Burns will be our guest speaker. A very inspiring celebration is planned and everyone is invited to attend.

Valentine Dance

American Legion Post 194 will host a Valentine dance as the post home on Saturday, Feb. 13 beginning at 9 p.m. Ramblin Country will be perfomring. For information call 706- 359-3445.

Men’s program

St. Luke Baptist Church will have a men’s fellowship program at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 20. for all men, young men and boys. Rev. F. D. Favors and the Springfield Baptist Church of Thomson, Georgia will be in charge of the service. There will be a fish fry after the program. Rev. Alvin Rivers is pastor.

The Single Ministry of Faith Tabernacle is sponsoring a workshop “Embracing your Singleness” at 5:30 p.m., Friday, February 5. All singles are invited. Dr. Delicinia Jamison is pastor.

Pine Needles to meet

The Pine Needle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m., February 8 at the Lincolnton Clubhouse.

Club dues are due and new members would be welcome to join at this time.

The Marriage Ministry of Faith Tabernacle is sponsoring a workshop “Renewing the Spirit of Marriage” at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 12. Everyone is invited.

Evening of songs

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will be hosting an evening of songs at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30. The Anointed Brother from Augusta, Georgia will be the guest group. There will also be different groups from Lincolnton and Washington performing. The public is invited to attend.

Harmony Baptist Church will be celebrating its “136th Church Anniversary” at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 7, 2010.

Rev. Charles Lacey, Pastor of Mt. Neebo of Wilkes County and Pleasant Grove of Hepzibah, Ga/ will be in charge of the service.

L-WREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association will meet at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 11 at Mary Willis Library in Washington. All retired educators are invited to attend.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

The Missionary Ministry of Harmony Baptist Church will be having its fourth anniversary service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7. Rev. Cookbooks available

First Assembly of God has published a cookbook of local recipes that are on sale now at a cost of $12.00 each. All proceeds go to Speed the Light Missions. They can be purchased at the church office from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. MOnday thru Friday or call 706-359-7237. They are also available at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Collecting box tops

The Pine Needle Garden Club is collecting “Box Tops for Education” for our elementary school. Please drop off your box tops at Bell’s, Papa’s Pizza or Crawford & Breazeale Drug Store. Thanks for your support!

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, February 11 at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring items for the Food Pantry.

Bridge games

Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday afternoon at 1:30.

The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm.

Breakfast buffet

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church will be serving a breakfast buffet at 8:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6. The cost is $5.00 per person, all you can eat.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

Valentine retreat

The Lincoln County Sunday School Union will be holding a Valentine Retreat at First Baptist Church on Saturday, February 13.

Registration will be held from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and all youth are invited to attend and bring a friend.

There will be speakers, gift bags, activities, door prizes and a great loving time in Christ Jesus.
