Heritage banquet
The Clarks Hill Long Beards (Lincolnton, Ga.) will be having the 7th annual Heritage Banquet and Auction on Friday January 8, 2010 at the American Legion Post 194. Calendar fund-raiser
We are now selling a 2010 calendar to raise money for cancer patients in our area. The calendars are $12.00 each. You can pick up one from any officer or board member. Also, Darran has them at Ed Sive Tire & Battery in Elberton. Pictures from our events are on the page with each month.
Gospel singing
The Rogers Family will be the guest singers at 7 p.m., Saturday, January 9 at the Harvest Time Christian Center on the North By Pass.
All are welcome . A love offering will be taken.
Auxiliary to meet
The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14 at the post home.

Pastor anniversary
Prices Grove Baptist Church will be celebrating the first pastoral anniversary of Rev. Marilyn C. Smith on January 31 at 2:00 p.m.
Rev. Michael Gresham pastor of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church of Tignall, Ga. is in charge of the service.
Getting acquainted meeting
The Faith for Living Ministries will hold a getting acquainted meeting on Thursday, February 4, from 6-9 p.m. at The Lincoln Center.
The purpose of the outreach ministry is to prepare youth for the job market and instill in them the values needed to be an asset to the community.

Young Miss Pageant
The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held January 28th at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium. Girls in grades K-5 who live in Lincoln County, attend school in LC or have guardians who work in LC are eligible.
The pageant forms are being delivered to girls at the LCES this week. If your child is interested in being in the pageant and didn’t receive an entry form, please contact Janet Dukes, FBLA Adviser at 706-401-0184. More forms are available at the LCHS office.
The entry fee of $30 is due by January 15th. The pageant is sponsored by Future Business Leaders of America.
H1N1 vaccines
Lincoln County Health Department now has H1N1 Flumist, open to all children ages 2-24 without asthma or other severe medical conditions, healthcare workers up to age 49 and caregivers of children less than six months old. Quantities are limited.
SAL to meet
The Sons of the American Legion will meet on January 12 at the post home at 7 p.m. All members are asked to please attend. Plans are being made for our turkey shoot, please come out and help us with plans.
Banquet and installation
The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its Annual Banquet and Installation of Officers at 6 pm Thursday, January 7 2010 in the May House at the Lincoln County Historical Park. All members are invited to bring a covered dish and join us all for an evening of fellowship and great food. Because of the Banquet, there will NOT be a meeting at the normal time of noon on the first Wednesday in January. Meetings will return to their normal schedule in February.
Chamber banquet
The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 26 at The Lincoln Center.
Darrell Huckabey, a comedian and author will be the guest speaker.
Everyone is invited to attend and tickets can be purchased at the chamber office.

Dinner served
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday’s menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Dr. King celebration
The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday observance will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 17 at Lincoln County High School.
Rev. Jane E. Thomas, presiding elder of the Macon-Barnesville District will be the guest speaker.
AA meeting
There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.
Prayer breakfast
Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church will have a “When God is First” prayer breakfast at 9 a.m., January 16. Rev. Dr. Walter E. Clayton will deliver the message.
NAACP/TIA to meet
The Lincoln County Chapter of the NAACP and Twighlight Improvement Association will be at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11 at the Lincoln County Library Annex.
LWREA to meet
The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 14 at the Lincoln County Public Library. All retired educators are invited to attend.
Marriage appreciation
Marriage Appreciation Recognition will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church during regular worship services at 10:15 a.m., on Sunday, January 17. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

The annual Deacons/Deaconess Anniversary will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church during regular worship service at 10:15 a.m., on Sunday, Jan. 24.

Angels for sale
The Relay for Life Courthouse Crew has concrete angels for sale to raise money to fight cancer. These make excellent Christmas presents and can also be used to remember an angel in your life who lost the battle with cancer.
Another good idea is to give them to a cancer survivor for Christmas to remind them they indeed have a guardian angel. Come to the Tax Commissioners Office to get them while the supply lasts.
Weight Watchers meet
Weight Watchers meets every Sat., 9 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. The church is located at 483 Elm Street (Augusta Hwy.) in Lincolnton. For more information, please call 359- 1370.

Interpreted sermons
First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.
Popcorn fund-raiser

Bridge games
Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday. The restaurant is open immediately before and immediately after the game that begins at 1:30 Monday afternoon.
The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm. Both games are open to all interested players at all skill levels.
Although it is best to bring your own partner, we will always try to find you a partner. The Monday game is sanctioned by the ACBL, and master points are awarded. Players are not required, however, to be members of the ACBL.

Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.
Men’s Bible study
First Assembly will offer a Men’s Bible Study that is open to the community starting Monday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m.
Spiritual Warfare will be the topic for the eight week session. The first night is an introduction and includes a dinner in the social hall.

Collecting box tops
The Pine Needle Garden Club is collecting “Box Tops for Education” for our elementary school. Please drop off your box tops at Bell’s, Papa’s Pizza or Crawford & Breazeale Drug Store. Thanks for your support!
Mobile mammography
The University Mobile Mammography Unit comes to the Lincoln County Health Department once a month..
Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information and to schedule an appointment.
