Roy A. Barden, 70, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Greenwood, S.C.

A private service will be held at a later date. Interment was in Overbrook cemetery in McCormick, S.C.

Mr. Barden was born in Lincoln County and was the son of the late Luther and Georgia Powell Barden. He retired after 40 years as a sewing machine mechanic.

Su;rvivors include his wife, Hazel H. Barden of the home; a daughter, Sheila B. Mason, Sandersville, Ga.; a step-daughter, Kathy H. Melton, Myrtle Beech, S.C.; three brothers, Gene Barden and Harry Barden of Lincolnton, Ga. and Pierce Barden, Washington, Ga.; two sisters, Judy B. Sleister, Grovetown, Ga. and Libby B. Jabbis, North Augusta, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

Strom Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
