Grateful for our freedom

TO THE EDITOR:

I had originally planned on writing a letter in response to last week's Letter to the Editor, but as I worked to put my thoughts on paper, I realized that we are in the Christmas season. This is not a time to try and settle political differences, but it is a time for God, family and friends (and in that order).

Today is even more special since it marks the 68th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who before us fought and sacrificed; to those who are doing the same today and to those who are our future. It is because of these brave men and women that we have the ability to voice our political differences, as well as enjoy our many freedoms and way of life.

So with a warm heart and the spirit of the season, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

ERNIE DOSS
