To qualify for assistance, an individual must:
.. Be responsible for paying the cost of energy for the primary heating source in the home.
.. Be a United States citizen or a legally admitted alien.
.. Have an income at or below 160 percent of the poverty level for Georgia.
The income levels are as follows: one-person household, $21,458; two-person household, $28,061; three-person household, $34,663; four-person household, $41,226; five-person household, $47,868; sixperson household, $54,471; sevenperson household, $55,709; and eight-person household, $56,947.
Furthermore, the person applying for assistance must have a photo ID and a document showing proof of age, a copy of everyone in the household's Social Security card, proof of income for every person in the household 18 years of age or older, and the home's most recent heating bill.
During the remainder of the program, Lincoln County residents may apply for assistance by calling 1-866- 722-4346.
According to a spokesman for the CSRA EOA, "No calls will be accepted regarding the status of an application once it has been completed. This is necessary due to limited personnel and the need to process applications as quickly as possible."
He went on to add, "The Energy Assistance Program is not an emergency program, and we encourage clients to continue making payments on their heating bill."
