Christmas fellowship Path of Christmas

The annual Tenth District Christmas Fellowship will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Food pantry hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 22 - Jan. 6. It will be open Mon., Dec. 21 from 9 - 12 noon. Happy holidays.

Town hall meeting

The CSRA Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging will hold a town hall meeting Dec. 14, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Henry H. Brigham Senior Center, Augusta to discuss programs and services for older seniors and boomers. Suggestions are sought and will be appreciated.

Class of 80 meeting

The Lincoln County High School Class of 1980 will meet Sat., Dec. 12, 4 p.m. at the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce building, 112 N. Washington St., Lincolnton. Plans are being made for our thirty-year reunion. Please plan to attend. We need your ideas, suggestions, support, attendance and finances.

"The Path of Christmas" will be presented Dec. 13, 14, and 15th at Lincolnton First Assembly of God. Tickets are free but must be gotten ahead of time at the church office, Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce of Crawford-Breazeale Drug Store.

Sleigh rides will run through the woods every 15 minutes from 6 - 8 p.m. Come enjoy live nativity, Dickens carolers in period costumes, festival of trees and the Christmas cafe.

In the event of rain, a rain date has been set for Wednesday, Dec. 16 using the same times.

TIA/NAACP to meet

The regular monthly meeting of T.I.A./NAACP will be held Mon., Dec. 14, 7:30 p.m. at New Tabernacle Baptist Church. You are invited.

Tree of Remembrance

A light "In Honor" or "In Memory" of can be placed on the Remembrance Tree for $1 donation per name. Registers for the names are displayed at the following locations: Lincolnton City Hall, City Pharmacy, Crawford-Breazeale Drug Co., Farmers State Bank, Farmers and Merchant Bank, Goldman and Wengrow and Jericho Florist. You may also mail requests to Mrs. Laura Spratlin, P. O. Box 463, Lincolnton, Georgia 30817. Names will be listed in the Lincoln Journal each week.

Letters to Santa

It's almost time for Christmas! The Lincoln County Library will be taking letters from parents for their children to the North Pole. Include items wanted for Christmas, their name, address, family or pets name, etc. Cost is $5. Proceeds will go to the CSRA Alzihmers Association. Deadline will be Dec. 14.

Christmas concert

Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir will sponsor a Christmas Concert Sat., Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. All church choirs or individuals are invited to come out to the first rehearsal Sat., Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. Contact Shavonne Cody-Fuller at 706-945-0122 or Shelby Lewis at 706-760-0312. Candlelight service

The Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual "Missionary Candlelight Service" on Sunday, December 20, 2008 at 5:00pm. Rev. Ray C. Lewis and Tabernacle Baptist Church will be in charge of the service.

Bridge games

Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday. The restaurant is open immediately before and immediately after the game that begins at 1:30 Monday afternoon.

The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm. Both games are open to all interested players at all skill levels.

Although it is best to bring your own partner, we will always try to find you a partner. The Monday game is sanctioned by the ACBL, and master points are awarded. Players are not required, however, to be members of the ACBL.

H1N1 vaccines

Lincoln County Health Department now has H1N1 Flumist, open to all children ages 2-24 without asthma or other severe medical conditions, healthcare workers up to age 49 and caregivers of children less than six months old. Quantities are limited.

Supper and play

Anthony Chapel is having its annual Community Christmas Supper and Christmas Play on Wednesday, December the 16th, beginning at 6pm.

A covered dish meal will precede the play with serving beginning at 6 p.m.

This year's play will once again be unique as it will tell the story of the birth of Jesus from the shepherds witness.The play is once again written by Dudley Bryant and is titled "The Shepherds Story." Please make your plans now to attend. Everyone is welcome.

194 Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold their monthly meeting Thurs., Dec. 10, 7 p.m. at the post home. Please remember this meeting will start 30 minutes earlier in order to have the ladies annual Christmas party. Remember to bring a $10 gift. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please also remember to bring items for the Food Pantry.

Living Christmas Cards

Lincolnton Baptist Church announces the return of Living Christmas Cards on Sun., Dec. 20, 6 - 8 p.m. Drive through their parking lot to see the love and joy of Christmas brought to life!

Bible study Wed.

Popcorn fund-raiser

Family needs help

Help is greatly needed by the Wallace family. Due to their disabilities, they, along with their teenage daughter, have become homeless. They are staying at the Lincoln Motel right due to the kindness of others but monetary donations are needed to help keep a roof over their heads. If you have a place for them to stay right now, it would also be greatly appreciated.

They have no money coming into the home since the father was hit by a car and disabled, any amount will be greatly appreciated. Please contact Evelyn Wallace at 706-401-5650 or Louise Harris at 706-359-5547 if you can help.

Mom's Day Out

Faith Community Church Youth will have Mom's Day Out Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Cost is $20 per child for ages birth through 12 years. Price includes lunch, nine hours of child care and craft supplies.

Registration is limited to 40 children. Deadline to register is Dec. 5. You may pick up registration forms at the FCC vendor site parade day, the library or call Gayle Elder at 706- 401-8750 or Patti Arthur at 706-990- 9597.

Revival services

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have revival services Dec. 10 - 13 at 7:30 on Thursday and Friday night and 6 p.m. on Saturday. Guest speaker will be Minister Denise Hearst Williams of Atlanta, Ga. Minister Williams is a former student of LCHS. The public is invited. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

Dist. 1 meeting

Denise Freeman, Dist. 1 Board of Education member will have an open meeting Dec. 9, 6 p.m. at Lincoln County Library Dova Partridge Annex for citizens/parents with any questions or concerns about our school system. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.

Collecting box tops

The Pine Needle Garden Club is collecting "Box Tops for Education" for our elementary school. Please drop off your box tops at Bell's, Papa's Pizza or Crawford & Breazeale Drug Store. Thanks for your support!

Christmas prog.

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas program Wed., Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Fruit donations will be given to senior and homebound members. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit comes to the Lincoln County Health Department once a month..

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information and to schedule an appointment for Dec. 22.

Weight Watchers meet

Weight Watchers meets every Sat., 9 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. The church is located at 483 Elm Street (Augusta Hwy.) in Lincolnton. For more information, please call 359- 1370.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Tour of Homes

The Christmas Tour of Homes, sponsored by the Lincoln County Historical Society, will be held Saturday, 12 December, from 4 to 7 pm. Tickets are only $10 per person ($5 for teens 13 to 17, children 12 and under are free) and can be purchased in advance at the Development Authority or on the 12th at the May House in the Lincoln County Historical Park.

Dinner with Santa

Dinner with Santa will be held at First Assembly of God Family Life Center on Fri., Dec. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m. Cost will be $5 per child and includes hot-dog meal and photo with Santa, and a coloring contest with prizes.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

Membership drive

The Lincoln County Historical Society will be conducting a membership drive and selling First Edition Lincoln County Historical Society Cookbooks at their table in front of the library for Holidays in Olde Lincoln Town on Saturday, December 5. Only $20 for a beautiful hard bound cookbook with great Southern Cooking recipes. If you liked the food at Pioneer Day, you'll love the cookbook!

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Jan. 21, 2010 at the Lincoln County Library. Everyone is invited. Have a great holiday.

Bible study Thurs.

You are invited to a Community Bible Study each Thursday Night at Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W. We are discussing, "Jesus in a World Gone Bad."

Drawing winners

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County held a drawing December 5 during Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne for a beauty basket and a bass fishing rod and reel. The winner of the basket was Alicia Wade and Jackie Carroll won the rod and reel.

The CCLC would like to thank everyone for stopping by their booth Saturday and would like to welcome the new members who joined.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
