Aycock wins Grand Champion Limousin Steer Award at show
Ivie S. Aycock captures Grand Champion Limousin Steer Award at Georgia Farm Credit Southern Classic Cattle Show. Lincoln Co. 4-H'er Ivey S. Aycock traveled to Perry, Ga. to compete in the Georgia Farm Credit Southern Classic Cattle Show on November 20-22.
The Southern Classic Cattle Show had over 200 steer and heifer entries for this event. The weekend show got off to impressive start with Ivey receiving fifth place in eighth grade showmanship.
In addition, Ivie competed against some tough competition in the Commercial and Percentage Simmental Heifer shows; with her efforts she received second placed ribbons in each class.
The highlight of the 2009 Southern Classic Cattle came on Sunday during the steer show competition. Ivie showed in two breed classes they were Maine and Limousin. She received a fifth place ribbon in the Maine Class. As for the Limousin show, Ivie won her class and came back in for the championship drive. Ivie wowed steer show judge Nicolas Moody Stephens Co. Young Farmer Teacher with her 1055lb steer named Big Teddy. Steer show judge Nicolas Moody was very impressed with Big Teddy's overall structural correctness and muscle development and named him Grand Champion Limousin steer.
Ivie's day was not complete he went back into the show ring for the overall breed champion award and he competed against some finest steers Georgia after it was all said and done Ivie and Big Teddy walked away with the fifth overall high steer show award.
