Students at LCES discuss their version of a Thanksgiving feast

In order to determine the preferences of young palates, we, at The Lincoln Journal, decided to ask a group of fourth and fifth-graders at LCES to describe their ideal Thanksgiving dinner.

At the very least, the results were entertaining and hopefully will inspire a few cooks to add some new dishes to this year's feast.

A sampling of the responses we received is as follows:

.. Adam Poss: "Pie, fried chicken, and turkey."

.. Midarious Roberts: "Dressing, chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, crab legs with melted butter, red velvet cake, pecan pie, black-eyed peas, turkey, strawberries, shrimp, and macaroni and cheese."

.. Zoe Rupp: "Roasted, golden brown turkey; cheesy grilled cheese sandwiches; golden brown muffins; yummy Jello; and yummy corn."

.. Katie Britt McKinney: "Basted turkey; yummy dressing; fluffy, white mashed potatoes; macaroni and cheese; green beans; corn; cookies shaped like cornucopias, and iced tea."

.. Travon Leverett: "Mashed potatoes, baked chicken, black-eyed peas, cornbread, sweet corn, sweet potato pie, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, red velvet cake, and some golden rolls, and maybe some turkey."

.. Noah Rueda: "Fried chicken, roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, some golden brown rolls, pepperoni pizza, and for dessert, some hot fudge sundaes."

.. Mystie Saturday: "Potato salad, deviled eggs, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers, turkey, and a lot of dessert, including pound cake."

.. Emily Partridge: "A big pan of steak, baked potatoes, salad, beans, corn, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake, tea cake cookies, Coca-Cola, and punch."

.. T.J. Paradise: "Venison, fried chicken, brisket, potatoes, corn, pie (any sort), turkey with gravy, rolls, and ice cream."

.. Jacob Turnbull: "Turkey, cornbread, dressing, apple pie, and other stuff."

.. Miguel Andrews: "Macaroni and cheese, pancakes, and sweet potato pie."

.. Lorianne Poss: "Delicious turkey, dressing, and Stove Top stuffing."

.. Austin Jones: "Roasted turkey from Walmart."

.. M.D. Islam: "Turkey, peas, marshmallow treats, and yams."

.. Carlos Mariney: "Macaroni and cheese, cornbread, hotdogs, hamburgers, red velvet cake, and hamburger helper, Golden Hamburger."

.. Kiersten Banks: "Delicious turkey, mouth-watering dressing, 'make you want to slap your mama' macaroni and cheese, marvelous broccoli casserole, superior green beans, and ice-cold tea."

.. Jack Wilson: "Crispy, hot turkey and MaMa's juicy, delicious dressing."

.. David Baldwin: "Turkey, gravy, roast beef, carrots, rolls, macaroni, red velvet cake, corn, chicken, rice, chocolate, hard-boiled eggs, pie, cookies, spaghetti, waffles, ham, and soda."
